Just as i started to get impressed

I spent the entire day building an entirely new base to accomodate the new living settlement update, because after placing my first thrall, and watching its behaivior it became clear that my original base was not set up for it at all. No problem, i enjoy building. After getting everthing placed, i went out and snagged a lone fisherman and some other thralls to work the benches, 8 in total. After placing them, everything was working well because I designed the new build to make their pathing as smooth as possible by only putting chairs, beds and interactables in specific places, and also isolated my top floor bedroom by using an elevator. It was literally working perfectly, some were working, some were eating, a couple were sleeping in their bedrooms, and just when i started to get impressed, the game hard crashed. Sent my error report to sony, logged back in only to find that ive lost about 8 hours worth of my progress from today. No benches placed anymore, no thralls, parts of the building missing etc. FFS, get it together Funcom! We’ve been more then patient, its been YEARS of the same game breaking issues. I hate to bother you with your job and all, but can someone please get off their ass and start fixing some of this sh*t? And if, or when that ever happens, feel free to communicate with the community that pays your bills, and let us know what the hell is going on.

More evidence of a rollback by Alwaysblazed here. Mention of Sony, so I presume this is on one of the Playstation consoles.

@den @AndyB @Community - what the heck is going on with server rollbacks? Who is performing rollbacks on the Playstation platform without giving any sort of communication?! :rage:

Alwaysblazed: I am sorry for your difficulties. In the interest of raising awareness about these rollbacks that appear to be happening, you may wish to open a Zendesk ticket with Funcom. Descibe your experience, and estimate approximately what time the crash and roll back took place. Give them as much detail as you can. In the ticket - also inquire why there was no communication about these rollbacks for players who play on the servers that were affected.

Good luck, here’s a link:

It is something that is not presently working in a satisfactory way, but I would say it works as it was meant to. People keep blaming “incompetence” on that, but I dont think they are not capable of doing something that works in the shape we expect it to, they just dont really understand the design for the feature in a way it caters to the people that actually play the game.

The cycle works, as a cycle. What it does not do is be meaningful.

For example: I leave my base, do stuff, I come back to my base, the artisans “start over” doing the exact same thing. That sure is “moving”, but it is not “living”. The “vanishing barkeepers” I think it is a consequence of lack of foresight on production level implementation.

When you do character, if you need to change the character, they will vanish when the update hits if the actor needs to be reclassified (even not changing class, but changing the core code of the class). That is why you remove the PROCESSING of the class to a interface, or data asset. The volatile nature of some processes require you should not tie it to the composition of the class, or else, any time you change it, they vanish.

But the actual work is not bad. What it does not is to convey what they though it conveyed to the people who play the game. If you play a looter shooter, you might queue, wait, play a bit, bore, leave it, and come back later. It is fine that a looter shooter has cyclical and monotonous gameplay, because you dont do it for a long time.

Most Conan Exile players who CARE about the base, plays long sessions, and thus, face problems with designs that belong in more dopamine lever games. The average player who cares about the base will not have the dopamine hit from seeing “hey, the toon moves”, and instead might even be annoyed if it interferes with the tried and true methods of playing they have developed over the time.

I guess this update comes from a good place, but it is way less than it was portrayed to be, because while it might mean a lot to the devs, it does not translate to the actual gameplay loop for players.

Those who dont care, dont care for it. Those who care, it is not enough.

This wasnt a rollback in my case. I was playing single player solo. My problem is constant crashes and loss of all progrees before the crash. Also, ive had dozens of instances over the years of entire bases just dissappearing for absolutely no reason. I quit playing this game after age od sorcery because of these issues, came back 2 years later and they are still a major problem. Absolutely unacceptable. They had 2 years to fix these issues and theyve done nothing. Its either incompetence or they simply dont care if the game is playable or not at this point

Also worth mentioning, i reported all these issues 2 years ago before i stopped playing. They acknowledged the problems, and said they were investigating back then. The fact that nothing has changed since, means they either didnt bother looking into it at all, or they dont know how to fix the issues. In either case, completely unnacceptable

You could say Freya is the most awaited companion, because to get her what you be mostly doing is waiting.
