I know at one time this used to be a thing, but it was removed due to exploits. Because yes, some people’s need to always win and have an edge is why we can’t have nice things.
However, now that we are looking to enter maintenance and bug fixing mode, would it be possible to bring it back as a server setting. I understand why it was an issue on pvp servers and why it could be problematic on official servers, but so many of us play on private modded servers where this would be a great tool, both for pvp among friends, or for rp servers. Personally I’d love to be able to knock out my own thralls to sell them to other players, or to sacrifice the troublesome ones.
Provided Funcom doesn’t want to take up the mantle does anyone know of a mod that has been released, or a mod in development that allows the knocking out of converted thralls?
Knocking out player thralls has never been a thing. Think about that for a minute. You spent hours finding that Dalinsia, knocked her out and tamed her on your Wheel-of-Pain (which would’ve taken another 24-48 hours real time, back in the day). But the day after you placed her into the world, some random player decided they wanted her, knocked her out, and stole her while you were (offline) at work. People (yourself included) would’ve been raising hell about that. In fact, if it were true, then people would’ve never bothered to hunt thralls in the wild, they would’ve just gone to their neighbors’ house.
There are literally no scenarios where KO’ing player thralls would be a benefit, and countless scenarios where people would be complaining about it. If you don’t believe me, then make a mod for it, run it on your own server, and see how many people are happy with that mod.
I’d love to have a mod that does this to run it on my server, that’s why I started this thread. Then again we are a server of friends, and while we pvp we aren’t out to screw each other over, nor play in bad faith just to win.
There are tons of scenarios where knocking out a player thrall would be a benefit, just not on official servers. Which is why, if the code is still there, it would be great to enable as another togglable setting for private servers.
