More people join –> Cheaters arrive, they wipe everyone.
People go play another server/game.
If Funcom only had like one guy, banning accounts, two hours twice per week, this wouldn’t happen like that. There would be way less cheaters. Also if they had an anti-cheat. Wait…
They do, and there is no way to know how many potential cheaters have been stopped by it.
A cheater that can’t cheat and a cheater that never existed look identical.
Though I suspect most cheaters are not smart enough to invent new cheats and just search for ones that already work, and those that already work are specifically the ones that are able to circumvent the anti-cheat.
Yes, I know you were trying to be ironic. You were mocking their anti-cheat because, from your perspective, it doesn’t work, but that is because the cheats it prevents is unquantifiable.
Ok, that wasn’t clear to me in your response that you got that.
Though, I’m not sure why you care about the amount of cheaters it caught. What’s really the issue is the amount it doesn’t. Also, the fact that the same accounts keep cheating for months without getting ban. If you have an anti-cheat that cannot detect someone executing 10 players/thralls in 3 sec, it’s basically the same as having none. And it’s just one example out of everything they can do right now that amount to nearly being admin on the servers.
Of course that is what counts… from your perspective. Conan Exiles uses BattlEye, which is a cheat preventer, not an active cheat detector. So it preventing cheats is the only thing that it does and the only thing that matters when judging its effectiveness.
Since you have no idea how many cheaters it prevented, you also have no idea how effective it is.
You are now asking for a cheat detector. Sure, those are used by a lot of games, the problem with those are false positives. Some games don’t care and let their cheat detectors run wild, banning people who never did anything wrong. How do you stop it from doing that? With active staff. What does Funcom lack the most right now? Oh, that’s right, staff.
Funcom uses BattlEye because it requires minimal participation on their part. Because they are lazy? No, because they do not have enough people. Tencent made them fire so many people, these forums aren’t even moderated anymore. If they can’t even moderate their forums, how could they possibly have enough people to moderate a cheat detector?
In an ideal world, Funcom would be able to handle cheaters, but if we are wishing for fantasy, we might as well live in an ideal world where nobody ever cheats instead. In the real world, cheaters are going to cheat and Funcom is not going to actively hunt cheaters because they do not have the personnel to allocate.
Battleeye on conan is even updating ? lel compared to gta. Cheaters rule servers in conan not a funcom monkeys, funcom does nothing to protect this game they give a shi only about marke. People post here cheaters who running on servers for weeks on same steam id…they doing literally nothing just milking the market on the last 200 people playing here
I miss having a war campaign on PVP servers that would last months. You could lose everything legitimately, pick back up and go out for revenge and lose or win. Those wins were real satisfying.
You’re lucky if you last a day on a server. A buddy of mine tried to play recently and before he hit level 10 his character was bricked from hacking. Inexcusable.
