Living Settlements to be temporarily disabled on Official servers

Greetings once more Exiles,

In addition to yesterday’s changes to follower rescue timers on Official servers, we are also temporarily disabling Living Settlements on Official servers until we can get a patch out that addresses the issues affecting you and your workers.

What this means for you once the feature is turned off:

  • Workers will no longer wander or express behaviors - they’ll simply stay put wherever they are placed.
    • Workers are still classified as Followers, so they can still enter combat, count for follower limit, be rescued, etc.
  • Enable/Disable follower use on individual placeables will not be available
  • The new UI on crafting stations that allows you to choose from available crafting bonuses will still work as was introduced in Age of Heroes - provided, of course, your followers are within range of the station.

This change has not been committed yet, but is planned to go into effect by the weekend. We’ll provide an update here as soon as the changes are pushed to Official servers - keeping in mind that these kinds of changes only go into effect after servers are restarted.

Thank you for your attention, and I once more apologize for any trouble these issues may have caused you. We do not have an ETA on the patch at this moment, but as soon as we know more, we’ll keep you posted.

If you have any questions or need something about this change clarified, please let us know!

I’m sorry that prelim didn’t work. Hoping Den’s team can get this going again because I actually like it and look forward to testing it on my new base design.

I hope they take a very long and detailed and long again look at it before they reenable it.
Did I mention they should take their time with it, a very long time?
Because opposed to you, I don’t like it a single bit.

Gratitude for the update and please pass along gratitude for the implementation of this stop gap.

It’s never easy to turn off the new and exciting feature, even if only briefly, but it is the responsible thing to do.

Looking forward to seeing it’s triumphant return later, with less insect infestation.

For private server owners, and single player / co-op - that setting is here:

Agreed! Take as long as you want lolol.

Thank you!

Hopefully this feature goes to the same broom closet as server transfers, and stays there.

please please please remove empty servers, and focus the funds spent on those on upgrading the extisting populated servers to get rid of a lot of lag and such. Tons of issues are caused by server lag and i feel the crafter problem could very well be one of them. Servers cannot handle the massive syncing stress (if someone is building a massive base on a populated server, that is enough to crash the damn thing at times. A single person building - crashing the server… ). Just rework your contracts with g-portal and get a better deal! Thanks

Lol I can already hear all the YouTubers and twitchers rushing to get a video out on this.

Even if they upgraded their hardware the game is just super unoptimized and runs poorly.

As well they should, not everyone is on the forums, so having as wide a dispersion of updates as possible is a good thing.

Now there’ll be people complaining on the forums that’s it’s been turned off :joy:
