I went on a farming mission yesterday with a friend. We grafted a lot and upon returning to base I went about building before eventually signing out. Upon relogging in a few hours later, I discovered that everything we did was gone. All the supplies, all the building everything. The game loaded up a previous save of over a day earlier. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

That sounds like a brutal rollback! A few possible reasons and fixes for this issue:
Possible Causes & Fixes
1. Cloud Save Sync Issues
- If the game uses cloud saves (Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation), sometimes it reverts to an old version due to a failed sync.
- Fix:
- Check Steam > Settings > Cloud and see if there’s a sync conflict.
- If you’re on Xbox or PlayStation, check for any save data conflicts in system settings.
2. Corrupt Save File
- Some games roll back to an earlier save if the latest one gets corrupted.
- Fix:
- Check if the game has a backup save feature. Some survival games keep older save files in the game folder.
- If it does, try restoring a previous manual save.
3. Auto-Save Failure
- The game might not have auto-saved properly before logging out.
- Fix:
- Always manually save before quitting, if the game allows it.
- If it’s multiplayer, ensure the host saves before shutting down the session.
4. Dedicated Server Rollback (If Playing on a Server)
- If you’re on a dedicated server, it may have crashed or restarted improperly, reverting to the last stable save.
- Fix:
- Check with the server admin if there’s a backup that can be restored.
5. Game Update or Mod Conflict
- If the game updated or a mod was removed, it might have reset progress.
- Fix:
- Check if an update was installed between your logout and login.
- If using mods, reinstall them and see if your progress returns.
Next Steps
- What game are you playing? Some have specific rollback issues.
- Do you see any older save files in your game’s directory?
- Were you playing solo or on a hosted multiplayer session?
Let me know, and I’ll help you dig deeper!
I’m assuming this is co-op.
I am unfortunately not familiar enough with Xbox to give any advice although I know singleplayer and co-op are experiencing a range of issues.
I am refreshing this in hopes that someone more experienced may be able to assist you.
