It would be nice to have pets/thralls have passive bufs for players.
Here’s some examples:
feline perk to increase player movement speed by 30%.
shaleback to give underwater breathing
etc
Oh my nights will be wonderful again, thanks a Milion, I will check your channel every day

I know you’ll start over, and I know you’ll start near the Broken Bridge. This is the most logical place in all the world and the crafters you can steal are incomparable.
Truly, I started playing for this Testlive and I began thinking like you, with joy and abandon.

Truth told, it isn’t a problem to me at all, because I’m an older more experienced player.
My point here isnt about a “problem”, more a QoL change.
Sairdontis also mentioned the RP potential of such change too. If you wanted it so, an Exile could grow with you to be a stand out survivor.

I was thinking literally just the level cap. So they’d get to 10, 15, 20 and get their perks then continue to levelup and grow stats. Nothing about 0-20 would need to change, they’d just be able to keep growing after that
I’d love to give more use to “lower faction” and lower tier thralls and pets, but this is not the way I would like to see it done. The only advantage of this solution is that it would probably be cheaper to implement than alternatives, but that’s it. The main disadvantage is that it removes incentives to look for better thralls and raise better pets if you can just make them all practically the same.

I guess you’re trying to say that strength isn’t a racial characteristic? But that’s not actually true. With race follows culture. With culture follows popular sports and activities, diets, living standards, even technology. All of which especially in ancient times, made a race (culture) comparatively stronger or weaker - better or worst fighters, and so on. Some cultures (races) accel in areas others do not - this is true even today. Many of these advantages and disadvantages hang around in the DNA for a few generations so it’s kind of rare that an individual captured from one culture would be always 100% able to assume the abilities or disabilities, of the culture they were presently being forced into.
Yup, it would play against the direction I think FC is trying to move in - that being flattening out a game with very vertical progression and offering more latitude across the horizontal - which will (eventually) extend player interest and move toward eliminating end-game elitism. Of course if “Grave Matter” is their idea of playable content to this end then I could be terribly wrong but it does look like they’re setting things up for this to happen - battle pass included…

I am not a scientist! I was an athlete, I was throwing discus!
I happen to meet strong men, pure beasts no matter the colour or origin!
Then in my real life I make my living relying to my strength mostly. Again I have met people that made me feel like an ant in front of them! They had different colors and origins again!
I am not a scientist, I only say what I experienced in my life so far.
Always a pleasure Tele

Also I think raising the cap isn’t needed unless you try and have your followers do all the fighting for you. As long as you’re doing a bunch of damage your followers are not likely to die. Only by very unlucky circumstances would they…
Yup, the new health and stamina mechanics kind of force the player to take a more active roll. I’m liking it - better than before anyway!
This can be a quick band-aid, but it doesn’t solve the problem
For low level (in fact - any level) thralls to be more useful they should have distinct advantages and drawbacks besides their stats. And by drawbacks I don’t mean all Dalinsias should have a 90% chance of rolling “Cannibal”
.
Right now there are 0 drawbacks in using Dalinsias - they eat the same gruel as level 3 Exile, take up the same slot in the training wheel, use the same armor and weapons, has the same inventory space - the only drawback is that T4s are longer to craft - which is minor nuisance since you can stack training wheels and you do not have to wait like a month to craft them.
If we are looking to balance high level thralls we should leave their stats as they are while making them more costly to operate and maintain. May be we should change their diet so they get buffs and heals only from eating feasts and high level potions (imagine Teimos refusing to eat anything apart from Derketo feast or Berserkers demanding you regularly feed them ale or they will riot and leave you
). Or maybe they should only be breakable with a T4 taskmaster - and taskmasters themselves will only be able to cook a limited amount of T4s before expiring (like a T4 priests and God tokens). Or imagine you also have to “feed” them some value items in order to boost T4s health and damage - how about Teimos accepting gifts of pearls and trained beasts or RHTS - relic fragments and legendary items?

I was toying around with ideas to “upgrade” lower-tier thralls to higher-tier ones using a “training camp” crafting station and progressively increasingly valuable resources. So if you want your Exile Fighter I to turn into a Cimmerian Berserker level combatant, you’d need to put him in the training station, feed him with increasingly good food (this is where those otherwise useless cooking recipes could be used), pay him coins, and eventually maybe some weird steroid potions crafted with rare ingredients (Hearts of a Hero to turn a peasant into a hero would make sense).
The point would not be creating a shortcut for better thralls. Walking into the Volcano to grab a Spinas should still be a valid strategy. Training an Exile thrall should take a lot of time and resources. so as not to be automatically faster or better than going to find the best in-world thralls.
But it would give you some late-game use for the first thralls you captured when starting out around Noob River.

I like this idea. It does let us levelup lower tier thralls but how would it work for pets? Just add levels 1 to 4 like thralls?
I admit I didn’t consider pets. Maybe upgrade them to a Greater variant eventually?
It would be hard to train a deer to be as tough and dangerous as a sabretooth. Nature isn’t fair.
Then again, some pets are maybe better suited to be just that - pets, rather than beasts of war.

Which gene (s), specifically, are you talking about? Unless you have the actual gene(s) that are attributed to physical prowess, social success, and or material success and validated your hypothesis, this is the type of assumption that leads to rhetoric of eugenic and racial superiority. Please note I am not saying you are racist or anything of that. I am speaking of the idea that we shouldn’t make these sweeping generalized statements about heredity and success because it’s a gateway mindset to what leads to the very worst of society.
I was. A molecular/cellular biologist by education and training and 5 years as a toxicologist. I left because there wasn’t enough focus on ethics and a very real and significant increase of pressure to provide results of the funding agency’s desire over what was actually observed.
I’m not one to subscribe to such a things since there are far too many variables out there to find a ‘smoking gun’ of behavior and or success. From what I have read on the subject (and it’s a pretty old subject) there are two basic camps of nature vs nurture and I firmly believe the very premise is incorrect…it’s not vs but and. Nature AND nurture but also self that determines your success or not. Sure you may not have the same advantage genetically as another but that doesn’t mean you can excel at something.

Of course we do.
No, those are people that do that… not DNA… LOL
It’s the two together of course… And as you say, self too - but that is largely determined by the former two.
But as demonstrated in the two videos above, that is already the case in 3.0. No other changes needed.
Normal Shaleback thralls kicking the dragon’s ass!
The key word is “something” !
If you have the geens on something, then you do not become something but a wonder! And this is a great difference my friend!
In 1992 I was 16 years old and I participated on a track and field festival in the island Naxos! All the athletic clubs of the Aegean should meet there to contest for the best club of Aegean title!
My best friend was a sprinter, he was the fastest man in my island even if he was 16. His best was 200m race!
There were 8 lines! In the lines 3 and 4(best lines) , 2 man from the national team would participate out of contest. My friend was on line 2 and a really thin boy aged 17 however, taller than my friend with long thin feet was on line 1(from the worst lines). When the race started this boy was not running, he was flying, I cannot explain it but he was flying. The whole stadium was looking only him, only him!
The second (national team man 26 years old) was 20 meters behind, my friend almost 50, in a 200m race!!!
This boy later would be the first runner on 200m on Olympic games in Sydney! On 2004 he will loose everything, the title the name, everything!!!
Souch a pity for this wonder not to be remembered, Souch a pity!
I still remember this race like it was yesterday, he was literally flying @erjoh his feet was not touching the ground, it was unbelievable!
People that borned to be “something” becomes wonders, because wonders they are!
Biology can only ruin them, not help them, but we do not live in a fair world!
Ps, you do understand the way I use the term “biology” here.
I respect the science and this is my sons dream, to become biologist!
