Martials arts - better combat animations

Never think to deserve a little time for who loves unarmed fight?
Game is from years stucked on same unarmed combat , what do you think about create a real unarmed fighting style (maybe with wraps) .
I know we have fist weapons, but, its not really the same.
Martials Arts animations, more fluid, and with lots of speed (instead of the damage ).

I would be happy if the strength attribute were taken into account with the unarmed damage. But unfortunately during my Fist Fighter Challenge I discovered that I did just as much damage with 0 points in strength as with 20 points…
Going back to the idea of martial arts. Simply hand wraps would be enough as a weapon to trigger the animations. Well done punches and kicks would really add a lot of fun to the game. :+1: :+1: :+1:

Kicks had been buffed. I wonder if there could be specific gauntlets that increase damage dealt by punches, maybe also a knockdown effect? Mods at the vey least.

Yes, the kicks we got are pretty cool.

But I would prefer something like this for unarmed combat as a separate discipline. Other weapons should definitely retain the normal kick.

In the Dungeon Master Tools mod there is a craftable legendary weapon - boxing gloves, which deal more than 50 damage, if I’m not mistaken. But they drop out randomly in Eldrich Forge.

Maybe it could be optional? Stygians as one faction, might employ Martial Arts, while Aesir would be akin to bar room brawlers.

exactly !!

I want to go back to the more barbaric and untrained looking animations from EA. It never made sense to me that a chef, who got banished for making a lack luster pie, could just pick up a dagger and start doing kicks and flips and what not.

Hey, it’s obvious, looking at the moves we make with our weapons, that our characters have not had any martial arts training. Ballet and circus acrobatics maybe, but not martial arts, armed or unarmed.

Two daggers!
Daggers only come in pairs.

A single, untrained dagger would most likely be wielded in a manner that matches the short or single handed sword attack animations.

On the main topic of unarmed attacks.
This one personally would be satisfied if they did concussion rather than lethal damage. Seriously, we savage a person with a bar mace and they wake up later with a headache and new job. But punch them, and their body breaks in half.

yep !!

They can add some NPC, in highter levels (maybe with asian dna  ) that train, martial arts like a quest journey.

After finish journey, your unarmed animations change !

Hyborian cultures were strongly inspired by medieval European cultures, so it would make sense that most unarmed combat styles would also be Western rather than Eastern. Not that it would make great difference - there are only so many effective ways to punch or kick a person to cause injury.

Kicks in the nuts feature heavily in Western medieval martial arts manuscripts, and sword duels often ended up as wrestling matches (where daggers may also have been involved), so unarmed combat styles are by no means solely an Eastern innovation. I mean, the etymology for “martial arts” comes from the Roman god of war, Mars.

Mind you, that is not something I consider a downside, it is “fun” and looks pleasant. It’s only a downside for a game or film that brags about realism IMO.

But there are so manies etnies in the game, also similar to east cultures.

My personal think , is that can be only a nice feauture to learn martial arts ( with specifics animations ) for some races in game.

But why? Surely a Bossonian, a Stygian, a Hyperborean, a Darfari and a Khitan all could learn the same moves with the same training. Or are you suggesting that specific weapon moves would also be limited to certain cultures or ethnicities?

One of the main advantages of Conan Exiles’ character system is that any character can learn anything, so you won’t need to create a new character and start from scratch if you want to try something new.

Only for having more “unique” build, races–>characters !

If you are trolling, well done.

If not…
No. Absolutely not.
Unarmed combat systems are not exclusive to “the East”. Which is barely relevant to the game.

Within the game, the first thing to note is different animations are not cosmetic. Either they have different hit boxes and attack speeds and move the characters’ hurt boxes…
Or they leave them the same as regular unarmed attacks and this create a disconnect between hit boxes and animation. Something the game already has some trouble with and that should be squelched rather than aggravated.

Race is a cosmetic choice in this game, and should likely stay that way. But if that is going to change, temperature comfort band and ability to craft cultural gear would be a better start than fighting styles.

It is more true to canon if all Khitai characters are created with Sorcery already unlocked than giving all Hyrkanians Bökh from wish.
