Massive variance between players on server re level vs total XP

We have started to notice something weird on our (private) server. Some players have much higher (almost double) total experience gained while being lower character level than others.

I attached a pic of 5 players showing lvl and xp totals, All players started at the same time. Yes it is a modded server, this has also been the same for all players. We are all ‘playing in the same sandbox’. Those with higher total xp are experiencing large slowdowns in leveling up compared to the others (up to 4 times more xp needed for ranks) while being lower level than them.

I don’t know how to/if we can fix this. Maybe recreating the character will do it, that is a lot of work to regain.

Any suggestions?

Likely an idea to list mods in here in case one of those are the issue.
Also, have the Admin check the Server settings. They may have one of the settings where more than expected XP is given to crafting or existing or fighting, etc and all the ones with a lot of XP are doing is building or crafting a lot.

The XP settings are
Basic XP Rate 0.5
Time XP 0.5
Kill XP 2
Harvest XP 1
Craft XP 1

The problem is that the ones with the most XP are NOT the highest level players, which does not make any sense to me, seeing as xp gains is what gives levels. The guy at lvl 184 does do a lot of fighting, but is in the middle of total xp

No clue really so as a complete guess maybe something to do with turning in heads at the bounty boards. Because those are a significant source of exp in EEWA.

Doesn’t EEWA have a mechanic that when you reach high levels you can relevel for prestige or something like that?

yes, ascension. None of us have reached that point yet and those players with the higher total xp numbers are going to be a long time getting there.

I have never seen this issue before where different players require different xp amounts to rank up.
the 555 million player needed 17 mill xp to go from 144 to 145, while the 229 mill player needed only ~ 3mill xp to rank up to 185.

This is the part that doesn’t make sense, how is it possible to have half the total earned experience and 40 extra levels as well?

It’s like different players have different leveling rates and to my knowledge that isn’t possible, yet here we are.

I don’t recall what the prestige exp was for. Never played anywhere that actually used it. I read about it once then promptly forgot it. It’s as good a guess as any. The EEWA sites should give info on it.

EEWA does let you ascend at max level aka gain a powerful ability but start over at level 1. I’d assume if anyone had done that and the displayed exp was the combined exp for more than one playthrough then they would know.

As in say it takes 1 million exp to get to max level then the player ascends. They could now be level 1 with 1 million exp. I don’t know if it works that way however and if it did it seems that would be immediately obvious as a cause of exp discrepancy.

I am the 555 mill xp player and i have not ascended…Its going to take months at this rate. Last night we as a group ran some bosses and dungeons, in the time I added 10% to my xp for next level, the lvl 163 ranked up twice. We made sure everyone had decent hits on all the bosses etc.

OK i have managed to do some digging using a local copy of the server save file. It seems when a player reaches lvl150 the total xp gained drops massively (loses approx 500mill xp) and then slowly ramps up again.

Currently I am going to assume this is related to the AoC mod and it’s interaction with Kerozards Paragon Leveling. Normally KPL would be loaded after AoC but since the last AoC major update it has to load BEFORE or it messes with the new AoC weapon/tool Skill leveling function.
My guess is since AoC’s max lvl is 150, it is possibly switching xp scaling when it moves to the KPL level system.
I would have switched away from KPL after it was found to not play well with the updated AoC but I have not found a suitable lvl 300 replacement yet.

Thought I should update this with findings so if any others see similar weirdness they may find this and at least get a hint as to the possible issue.
Thanks all for the responses.
