Missed out Battlepass Content

Hello, I am not sure if these words will actually reach anyone from the developer team or not, but I just would like to know if there is really no possibility to get content from the previous Battlepasses by either putting them up for sale in the Bazaar or bundling them up in some sort of DLC.

Personally, I can’t really understand why this system has been implemented this way, so that players who start Conan later or are just busy with work, etc., won’t be able to regain the possibility to unlock that content ever again. I paid for every Battlepass so far and sadly never had the time to complete one of them.
I do not care about the lost money, so don’t get me wrong. I was aware of the consequences of not completing it before a new age starts, but I always thought the items would return again.

I really hope there will be a change of heart and the past content will be available to unlock in the future somehow.

It’s impossible to say whether Funcom will ever make past Battle Pass items available again, as anything is possible. However, it’s unlikely to happen.

I know this might sound strange: a company giving up on making money from an item that’s in the game but no longer allows people to purchase.

However, if you really want to understand the mechanism behind this, look up FOMO (or Fear of Missing Out). You’ll likely find some good content that explains this marketing practice and why it’s more beneficial to work on people’s fear of missing out (To invoke a sense of urgency in purchasing something to avoid feeling what you’re feeling right now.) rather than making items perpetually available.

Battle passes are only seasonal. HOWEVER they have a precedent of tweaking models for Bazaar content that were also BP content. You may find it easier victory to review what was in the BP that you really wanted but missed out on and petition to get a bazaar equivalent developed.

Heck I would say that grouping some aspects of various BP content would be a smart move and I would be fine with that as a BP regular. I can see a Turanian set, Stygian Army, sorcery attire, hyena skins, arcane additions etc etc etc.

I’m down with adding content of the BP into saleable bundles on the bazaar but I think they may tweak these because that is the way they role to ensure it’s different.

Atlantean Sword and Royal Armor will see a return before old Battlepass items.

No it would ruin the entire idea behind battle passes. It’s all about joining and then having things new players wont have. It’s a way for game studio to appreciate those who actively support them.
I have never seen items from battle pass return in any game, but yes, sometimes they return but look slightly different - this is ok with me, but bringing back item exactly as it was in the old battle pass is a treason :joy:

If they ever choose to barely modify the Atlantean Sword and Royal Armour (for resale) on the same level that the Arcane Bookcase is to the Arcane Curio Cabinet, this one would acquire it with alacrity.

I am aware of the FOMO strategy, but I just want to say that for me, who prefers collecting or at least having a complete game, it is always preferable to avoid these marketing strategies. I don’t blame Funcom for their choices, but this is at least one reason for me to stop spending my money on Battlepasses and rather check out the Bazaar or support some Modders instead. Have a nice day everyone!

As a player, I share the same opinion as yours. However, it’s hard to argue against the FOMO strategy as the best in the market when the intention is quick monetization. Practically all major companies use it.

I’m frustrated about not being able to have all the items in the game, either because I missed drops, exclusive launches, or because I don’t have the financial means to clear the bazaar. On the other hand, today I’m much more casual in Conan than I was some time ago. In doing so, I’m discovering other incredible games where the investment is much more worthwhile than a cosmetic item.

Yeah the collector mentality isn’t fiscally an option and I figured it was the major stumbling block when they switched to the bp, bazaar over dlc.

I personally love the idea that we just invest in what we want and personalize our playing on the servers. Not as something to lord over others but to just stand out from everything else. To truly have signature builds and appearances.

It’s happening since day one. People who bought the release game took the Atlantean recipe, nobody else later. Then twitch drops and the list goes on. But i support your idea no matter if i possess these things or not, it’s not fair for the new players or the players that have really busy schedule not to be able to gain these things.

I still remember a sizeable portion of the player base threatening to leave the game if they decided to sell the pre-order content. It was then that I switched over and embraced the walled diversity based on purchase and timing. It was odd to see the very same people defending the pre-order exclusion to complain about FOMO in the BP.

I recently got back into CE after having to take a hiatus for a few months. I’ve been following the game’s development since early access and i’ve always been excited about collecting DLC packs and i’ve even bought a few things off the bazaar to support the game.

I’m doing my first battle pass, but it would be cool if they gave new / returning players the opportunity to pick which battle pass they want to clear at at time after finishing the most one.

I’d certainly pay the crom coins to unlock and it seems counterproductive to deny players the opportunity to unlock past battle passes and complete them / or pay more crom coins if they just want them unlocked.

I am in the same boat. I wasn’t able to finish the first battle pass and now I have missed out. I bought ALL of their DLC and that is how I am rewarded. I love the game but hate the battle pass. At least give us an option to buy it afterward. I never had anything bad to say about this game, I love it but the battle pass crcap has me looking to other games. At least the modders have some good stuff out there.

You all know that you can ( and they have literally said they dont care if you do) use single player admin mode to shortcut your challenges, right? I mean it takes me about 15 days of 15-30 minutes of play each day to complete a battlepass but that’s because I don’t waste time with the common or uncommon tasks and never do anything that doesn’t have a multiplier on it. I’m sure, if pressed, I can grind down that to 7 days but I don’t like grinding.

Point here is that there is very little reason why folks can’t complete the battlepass unless they are 1) flat out refusing to use the easy button (IE PRIDE) or 2) got an RL emergency that took away the time they had planned.

Personally, I am not a fan of strategies that force active play. Battlepasses, daily login rewards, exclusive limited time sales, twitch rewards…all of that stuff is NOT designed to make your players happy. It’s a way to inflate active player numbers and make your players feel beholden to playing because of that FOMO.

I LIKE the battlepass content, so I play through it. But I shouldn’t be forced to play it within a specific time period to get it. Give me a DLC I can buy on my time, when I want it, or not. It’s an overall symptom of the games-as-a-service model that’s become way too damn prevalent, imo.

And yes, I will fully admit I am salty that I was gifted this game after the 2nd battlepass came out so I never got the opportunity to get the 1st one which really sucks. Especially since I like it the best out of all of them.

This is a conversation on loop. When Battlepass was announced, this was the conversation ad naseum.

It is the reality. If you miss an item on battle pass you likely missed the item. Thats how battlepasses work and why people subscribe to them - to not miss out.

Sure. That is the point of a battlepass. That doesn’t mean it’s a good monetization model, in this game or any game.

And there is the issue. They have fiscal goals that have to be met. They don’t profit if you decide to wait to get a cushy 60% off on steam. And cash flow is a very real thing.

Define what’s good because I bet real money they are making more steady revenue now than they ever did with dlcs.

Typically, I find that when I feel forced to do something, I am less forgiving about blunders, bugs, poor planning, etc because feeling strong-armed in to logging in when you’d rather be doing something else makes it easier for me to walk away. Because it makes it that much more obvious that you’re not selling a good game, you’re selling access to a storefront.

I don’t understand why they should be available in the future. They are exclusive items, if you want them you buy the battle pass and complete it. It really doesn’t take a long time, log on every now and then and do the multiplier challenges. If you don’t have much time, you can do them faster in single player. But if you really have so little time to play that you can’t complete the pass in 3 months i’d say don’t waste your money on it, though it isn’t an issue as you said.
