Moving through Thralls

I have found myself more times than I can count being blocked by Thralls/companions. Whether it’s a door way, or corridor, or hall, or narrow space, once Thralls are in the way they can only be moved by placing them or ordering them to move if there is enough space. I’ve gotten killed by the inability to pass by them many times as well in tight situations. Thralls should be slightly pushable without affecting their position to the extent you can pass by them, like in many games (ex Dragons Dogma, etc.. ). Right now they block the way like immovable boulders and it does not feel right if I have to run out of or into a situation and have to push them aside.

It’s interesting, seems to be tied to friendly fire damage/effect settings. In PVP I simply have to kick my followers out of the way. Because of this. Obviously there should be a better system in place like you’re mentioning, we shouldn’t have to kick them  or rely on an incomplete/unreliable command UI.

I didn’t have enough PVE experience to understand the issue initially way back because I had this option in PVP. It sounds incredibly frustrating.

You never have that problem in Skyrim. If you get too close to a follower and stay there, the follower moves out of the way. Failing to do that, you unsheath your weapon and they teleport to your back instantly. That’s what should happen in CE.

A trick to manage in PVE, where kicking them doesn’t work, is going to 1st person and ordering them to move. Hopefully, you’ll manage to point somewhere outside of their hitbox. Sometimes, you need to reposition yourself in order to do it successfully. It’s a pain, all in all.

Cannot recommend this enough:

Sounds stupid, but it has changed the game for me. Passing doors in my bases was near impossible, because a horse and two followers nearly always blocked them.

A true gem, this mod.

I hate being on console! Lol

Three or four years ago, shortly after Friendly Fire was patched out, Thralls would step aside when you looked at them closely and make room. This feature disappeared again in the next patch. I could imagine that it was used as an exploit to push other players’ Thralls into NPC camps in PVE or something similar.

When I build in my base I have two doors side by side, so I can have uninterrupted access in/out.

No good for tight spots in dungeons though. In there I have to constantly monitor where my thrall is so I don’t get pinned in a corner somewhere when I’m in a scrap.

Very annoying.

Almost all of us do the same thing, since Funcom will never understand that the follower collision issue plagues this game.

The funny part however is that when our character decides to stand in the middle of the door, your wandering crafters will pass through you like you’re a ghost  .

Then again my horse may block me but i can see through it …

It’s all a mess unfortunately.

And give us double doors too finally.

And Liu Fei’s ghostly solid apparition who won’t go away… I shudder for those who may have gotten stuck on the quest at that point.

Hadn’t thought about double doors. I like it. Aesthetically pleasing as well as reducing log-jams at your bases egress points.

I don’t play PvP so I don’t know how that would affect that gameplay but would be sweet for PvE.

It wont affect PvP if it’s not pay to win with enormous hit points .

PvP in this game however is not only the official, and trust me on private servers many players are using gates. Other than that the model of the double door already exists in the Siptah dlc . All i am asking these years is to gain it in all the building styles either vanilla or dlc .

I don’t recall witch set from Bazaar but I have double doors.

Didn’t the stormglass set from the bazzar come with double doors

Can’t emphasize this enough… once I found out about it, I never leave home without one. Doesn’t even have to be a fancy one, though mine is usually a legendary that I’ve reskinned with a look of my choosing, but any katana will work. It’s gotten me out of plenty of jams, pun intended. This is especially handy when you’re in areas that aren’t your own builds, such as other player’s builds or environmental spaces. So long as you can face the follower blocking your path, you can get out.

Not a huge fan of these as they’re gaudy for one, and two, they take up more space than needed. There’s no excuse to have a door take up more than one line of space… these take up 4 squares.

It was @Wak4863 years ago that started a workaround series of videos on YouTube. Yes, the bugs were so many that allowed him to make a good number of videos for workaround about them. The reason i loved Wak was this one. Wak wouldn’t “teach” you how to cheat your game like Firespark, but how to make it through on devastating bugs . I remember playing with @Wonka in his Latin American server of Siptah. He couldn’t see the plantation but somehow I could. After a small period of time we will realize that it was star metal sickle that was allowing us to see the plantation  , go figure. Of course a month after someone will create a post in here claiming his rights for the star metal tool workaround and i am , yea .. right.. good job man  . Yes people envied Waks idea and tried to become the same unsuccessfully of course.

Over the years, many bugs and glitches getting fixed and return. So it’s good not to trust the fixes and act like they never gone i guess  .

The katana is a workaround option, not a real solution tho. Thralls / companions should be made a little smarter about being able to be slightly pushed or move out of the way.
