There’s a mama bear and two cubs that spawn there 100% of the time and AFAIK, the western half of that isle is a no-build zone - which you’re butt-up-against.
I guess Mama bear had enough one day…

Not even close, we had 2 other castles on the same server that were bigger. This wasn’t something to do with where I built or how many pieces I placed.
It’s a bug. And it’s a private server, therefore, cleanup doesn’t happen unless you tell it to. Our server didn’t have limitations on building.
I’m aware of the 4spawn with bears. Building on them doesn’t violate anything official, and as stated above, this was a private server. Half of the island you cannot build on and the game prevents you, as it does in places like the Unnamed City or Sepamaru.
No limitations on building pieces. No cleanup for ‘large’ buildings were implemented. It’s a bug. It’s happened to others.

My brother begged me to come back to the game for Age of Sorcery. So I’m playing and pissed off that I keep getting the jump bug where it prevents you from jumping all together.
Age of Calamity is rife.
I’m making a new ‘riverbend’ on an official server this time. It’s on a PVP realm so someday it’ll likely get godded or whatever. I’d rather lose it that way.
I’ll post some pictures soon. This one took me hundreds of hours. I’m attempting to make a new version in a fraction of the time.

Well, if the other large builds were on the same server, then they weren’t in the same spot. Which does not change my point. Areas on Telith’s Island are supposed to be a no build zone now, so if you had built in those areas, the patch would have removed the structure.
If you want to test it, try building there again. I already did, and I was not able to do so. However, since you stated this is a private server, you can turn off the no build zone in the admin panel.
I’ve found that pretty builds tend to last longer that purely pvp ones, especially on quiet servers
