New challenge system is a crap!

I’m not speaking of cheesing BP in admin mode. Let us be legit players and see what we get. I started a new SP and got 3 challenges for a week without the possibility of rerolling them. My lvl 1 char without any gear has to kill 1 demonic hyena, 1 demonic crock and 3 demonic creatures - just a piece of cake! And no way to reroll them to get some easier ones. Previous system was adopting to current char level and gave reasonable challenges for every char not for the whole account.

OK, I have some game.db’s in my backup with lvl 60 chars. So after restoring from backup I have to leave North, go to the Noob river and exterminate poor crocks and hyenas by dozens to get one bright-eyed! What next? “Get a Sword of Crom”? “Get a female ginger-haired Cimmerian Berserker”? Such challenges are no good. Low-level char gets stuck with BP until high levels, high level char wastes time grinding low-level mobs to get rare spawns. Moreover you do not get any new challenge after completing an old one! If you get a couple of “bad” challenges just forget about your BP for a week. Challenge system MUST have reroll function, or MUST adopt to char level and must NOT give challenges requiring a lot of silly running around and grinding instead of playing your game. Give me back my rerolls!

You know what all this tells me? It tells me not to buy Dune. If this is what Tencent is doing to Conan, just imagine what they are doing to the game they’ve had their hands on well before launch. Hard pass.

I understand where you’re coming from but you wouldn’t normally start a new character and head straight for world bosses or 1 skull demonics when you’re not attempting BP challenges. You can hit max level in a matter of a couple hours. Easy to kill Enemies have been dropping hardened steel weapons for me like candy. Just spend a couple hours progressing your character like you normally would before trying to kill the required things for BP.

I have been wondering what happens if you are unable to complete the challenges one week. Do you lose any chance of completing the Battle Pass? How many weeks are there? They need to add a countdown timer for how long the BP lasts.

Previous BPs gave you new challenges after you complete some of the existing ones and totally rerolled all the challenges every day. IDK what they’re up to with this new system. I hope they will reroll them once a week now.

Previous BPs never forced us to level up “as soon as you can”. I could load a low-level char on some server, play game in my own way and pace and get a “challenge” to gather a pile of wood or to skin some deers. Then I could load a lvl 60 char and get a challenge to kill a world boss. Challenges were adaptive, with different objective complexity, but approximately the same subjective complexity! Now it looks like they all are for high-level or level-cap only. Maybe there will be some BP progress while levelling my char without challenges, just for earning XP and fulfilling jouney steps, or it just has no sense.

A chapter lasts for ~three months. If you do nothing except the challenges, you need eight weeks to complete the Battle Pass. Realistically, you’ll be getting random exp here and there on your way to complete those challenges, so six weeks of nothing except doing the challenges should get you there.

I agree that a timer would be very helpful, especially for players who return from a break mid-Chapter.

I wish alongside challenges you also get passive exp by playing…
So you can finish them for playing 1 hour a day without doing challenges.

They want us to play, this is how it should be done as well.

Yesterday i finish all 3 chellenges and wonder what next. When i wander around sinner’s refuge and killed some exiles i got next level of BP, i check from where i get points and test something, then for mining whole rock i got 1 exp point to progress bar, for killing neutral creature like antelope i also got 1 point, but for slay small crocodile i got 10 points. Not wanted test other activities.

Oh this looks promising. Maybe challenges really are for lvl 60 only when you don’t get any XP anymore. I’ll give it a try on Saturday with my “newborn” char.

Just try check if my test are ok, as newborn char check BP exp bar, then dig 10 rocks and check if you have 10/1000 on level bar.

Well to be frank a lvl 1 character can do that with stone weapons, so it seems ok. Just use daggers and bleed.

My 3 challenges stand done for 24 hours.
That’s why I won’t buy the [Battle Pass] , although I like the things-furniture in it.
But I like the new interface and the changes, except for the split, which is annoying

You should. I think I got ~1500 BP exp from doing stuff in the hour or so that I spent doing the challenges and other sorts of random stuff. A level per day feels quite achievable even if you don’t push it.

You can’t just AFK it, though. You need to be doing stuff worth exp to level up the Battle Pass.

Having to wait 4.5 days for challenges to reset is utter BS.
I have stuff to do and limited playtime in periods of time, i might not even get to finish battlepass on some occasions now, and i PAY for it…cheezuz…

Jokes on you, I’m putting coal and tar on 25 alchemist bench and crafting 6,500 charcoals on each one.

Now I’m AFK complaining on the forums about how dumb this system is, and how this is the worse patch we’ve had.

Thats why not pay straight for battle pass, at least buy it when you unlock for example level 55-60

Thanks for the clarification. Yeah, you can sort of AFK the Battle Pass if you have enough stuff you can process in your workbenches.

Usually I go do something else in the game, such as dungeons, harvesting, NPC camps or dress-a-dolly with my thralls while my materials cook in workstations, rather than Alt+Tab to the forums. So I’m not really afking the whole time.

Speaking as a player of CE for around 4 years now:

I felt that the challenges gave me some goals in game. One would deduce that over time they would build upon the old system and implement “dailies” that would go to more than just the marketing side of the battle-pass, but nope. The new one is just plain boring. We get a big fat point blocker so people that are impatient will opt to buy the more expensive option on “BP plus”. Another shady marketing tactic that has undoubtedly made a feature, that was for a short while fun, turn into a UI paperweight. I paid the money in bazaar items and the battle pass to play my game how I see fit with somewhat fair in game challenge. Why am I getting a “time out” for something I paid for? …is what I want to know. These days it’s starting to feel like a penalty for playing a video game.
