I’m actually surprised. For pvp 1v1s the new combat seems to be something I can get used to. I actually really like the change so far. For 1v1. I haven’t tried ganks or thrall fights yet.
Almost all the weapons seem to be viable for pvp 1v1, with the exception of the mace. My favorite cheese weapon the katana can actually be used, but I’m not sure yet whether it still works the way it used to. I’ll be disappointed if they patched the “bug” making the fourth hit do a crap ton of damage. If someone would be willing to test for me, please tell. Otherwise I’ll have to try it later
There is one weapon however that is still completely broken. Claws. Unless these things get nerfed or removed ASAP, we’re heading back into a claw meta. Claw meta was easily the worst and most unbalanced meta we’ve ever had. You need quite a bit of agility and no heavy armor to actually break out of the combo.
Bows are now viable too, which I like. Maybe the lights do a bit too much damage for spray and pray, but overall, I like the buff. My classic sniper build that I used to 1 shot and make people ragequit off servers is now even more viable and might even work on people in combat build.
My first impressions are good, and I’m glad we’re finally trying to change the movement. But the real elephants in the room are how possible it will be to 1vX, and how super thralls will affect pvp. My suggestion for balancing thralls is to reduce their damage significantly while they’re following someone, but we’ll see how it goes first.
