Hello Conan Community! I want to bring the state of Conan combat into attention again, at least from the prespective of someone who’s perhaps has played the game a little too much.
The situation thus far:
- Spear and daggers nerfed (deserved but too overnerfed so no one uses them)
- Removed hyper armor from weapons that require it to combo / trade into other players. (1h sword, 1h mace, 1h axe. Without hyper armor a single poke just cancels the combo so no one uses them)
- Added the ability to turn the direction of your attack while sprint attacking.
Results:
- Claws became by far the most popular and ‘meta’ weapon. The sprint attack has no recovery so if you miss you can keep spriting and lose no ground while chasing. The fast attacks due to the removal of hyper armor cancels all other attacks and simply wins any trade.
- Pvp sort of turned into a sprint attack fest of claw dashes and hammer (but not as popular as claws because hammer is more likely to cause friendly damage to clan members), and katana (also not as popular claws because the sprint attack of claws is just better).
- Bow is still killing people in light armor in 2~3 hits. You’ve got private pvp servers making rules that you can only have 1 archer per clan.
I would like to see some improvements in the coming Age of Heroes. Adding the Hyper armor back, nerfing claws, giving daggers a very TINY buff to damage. Giving spear an even TINIER increase to the 1st heavy animation speed (even if to balance it they need to reduce the damage or remove the cripple)
These would at least would be my suggestions to improve the combat at the moment. I am also of the opinion that agility builds at the moment are just better, specially considering the ‘meta’ weapon is agility and you can pretty much get an agility legendary version of most other weapons. Without having to put so many points into strength, you can get 10 points into grit and get a bunch of free stamina regen.
Hopefully we see changes in the coming update.
