Newest update doesnt allow for offline play

literally cant start the game at all in offline mode or without internet. I dont have internet at home and have been relying on a mod to be able to play the game at all since even single player mode is still online, but now i cant even run the game with the latest update. please let me play the game :sob:

Wow
 That sucks

I never understood why games implement stupid DRM that disallows for offline play

You paid for the game, and yet you have to jump through more hurdles than people
that pirate the game.

This would be funny if there wasn’t an element to truth here. Our aggregate and combined data is worth more than the dollars we pay for software
Wasn’t tencent looking into a Funcom buyout?

They did buy them out

ah, I thought that fell through when COVID19 hit.

The same thing happens to me, not all of us have internet all the time, we have paid for a game and I want to be able to play it wherever and however.

I would have preferred that they kept DRM instead of forcing me to be connected to the internet if I want to play offline

From what I’ve seen it does a check, but allows you to play offline.

The DRM was probably the reason for the needed online connection (Denuvo). But now they replaced it with something even more obscure
 the Funcom Live Services

No, it does not allow it, I have tried it and there is no way, it tells you “You can play offline, but to play online, restart” but even if it does not let me continue my game, 100 hours a poop

Same issues for me. I was hoping for more single player support for when I don’t have WiFi available, but instead i got rammed up the
with an even worse situation. I cant load my single player character I sunk over 500 hours on, I cant play offline, still no cloud support or functional single player pausing, I bought every single DLC on release at full price and now everything feels wasted and destroyed. What a watery dump they just dropped on my picnic here. Its horribly anti consumer and obvious bait and switch of the DRM and product as a whole.

EDIT: It was the author himself, who removed it. I stand corrected. Thanks Narelle for the info.

Just to fortify the assumption that this is deliberate: All offline mods are gone from the Steam Workshop, meaning they were specifically removed by Funcom. It’s not that they don’t work anymore. The entire page is gone.

Hades removed his mod because it was no longer working. It wasn’t Funcom.

Thanks for the info. I edited my post.

Not having access to offline play pretty much breaks the Steam TOS as it was an intergertal part of the game.

This is a bunch of BS.

 Bump?

Why is this not being addressed?

Probably because this is the PC forum where offline mode required a mod. If it hits consoles and borks their hard-coded offline play, it will probably explode.

Hey there,

Offline play is not and has not been supported for PC, and was only possible by a mod created by a third party. Just to clarify, we did not purposely disable this mod, delete it from the workshop or target its functionality.

That being said, our team is looking into possible issues that may be actively blocking offline play.

So you buy a game thinking you can just play it, but now you have to have an internet connection? To play offline? Seriously? WHY?

PLEASE, just tell me what is the reason for this?

Oh, that totally explains why a single player game that doesn’t have any reason to be online forces you to be online

Totally cleared that up for me thank you so much!
