Not getting any heads from Boss Creatures

When working on the Journey mission to obtain a head from any Boss creature roaming the game world I have killed the giant Crocodile northwest of the Sentinels many times as well as the giant Tarantula in the northeast. I have used Iron Hatchet, Iron Skinning Knife, Iron Pick, no heads have been collected at all.

Steps on how to reproduce issue:

  1. Find giant Crocodile northwest of Sentinels or the giant Tarantula southeast of Spinebreaker’s Flank.
  2. Kill them.
  3. Use Iron Hatchet, Iron Skinning Knife, or Iron Pick

This not a boss, this is world boss. You need a tool, iron enough. I get mine from iron knife on elk king.

i’m having this issue also, using iron tools cannot for the life of me get a boss head!

Iron tools do work but the only tool I can ever get the heads with is the cleaver

I got the head of a shaleback wold boss and it counted as the journey step ‘get the head of a boss’.

While you have a chance to get animal head using any tool, if you want to get them somewhat reliably you should use cleavers.
