Now that it's finished, how does it compare?

I just completed the Battle pass for season 3 and looking at my Ancestral Knowledge , if you treat The Age of Sorcery as a DLC pack, it definitely stands up to the others in terms of content.
I know when they announced how the new seasons were going to work last year alot of people were unhappy but lets take a look at the raw data. Now I bought the Season Pass for $10 (1200 crom coins) and completed the season pass which gave me back the 1200 crom coins, to then purchase Season 2 , and repeated that for Season 3. I didnt buy anything from the bazaar, mostly cause im a broke as beech. I used Pixelcave’s youtube video breaking down each DLC that came before and compared it to The Age of Sorcery.

DLC NAME Build Pieces, Placable, Armor Sets, Weapons, Warpaints, Emotes, Pets

Imperial East 39, 24, 3, 9 , 5 , 0, 0
Jewel of West 39, 24, 3 , 9, 5, 0, 0
Savage Frontier 39, 0, 3, 9, 5 , 0, 5
Seekers of Dawn 39, 0, 3, 12, 5, 0, 5
Treasure of Turan 39, 9, 3, 9, 5, 0, 2
Blood and Sand 29, 15, 3 , 19 , 0 , 0, 0
Derketo 11, 41, 6 , 0, 6, 12, 0
Hyboria 25, 14, 3, 11, 0, 0, 2
Argos 49, 17, 3 , 9, 0 , 0, 0
People of dragon 48, 31, 3, 12, 0 , 0, 0
AGE of SORCERY 15, 36, 8 , 11, 7 , 12, 12

Although lacking in the building pieces department every where else Age of Sorcery is equal to or better in terms of content compared to the other DLC packs. What do you think? was it worth your $10 ? The new “Age” will be here in probably 3 months, and the crom coins we earned from this chapter will be used to purchase chapter 1 of it, so how will it stack up then since we’re still “floating” on the same $10 used to purchase chapter 1 of Age of Sorcery?

Thanks! Later

Thanks for the info, but it is very hard to read so I’ve made a table with your data

WOW thank you so much!!!

Nope. I’m crazy about building blocks so I’ve spent one pile of Crom coins on Stormglass addon and another pile on double Sandstone set. It’s marketing… They “give coins back” so that we could spend them in the Bazaar and buy more to get a new BP for the next Age. I know that it’s exploiting my weakness - but they are so beautiful!

Interesting.

Still, I didn’t like AoS.
Battle Pass give too much variety: you end up having little of everything and nothing complete. And top of that, none of those stuff is useful: really, I’ve completed 2 battle pass and I only built 1 arcane curio cabinet. And I’ll probably dismatle it soon.

I didn’t even buy third battle pass.
I’ve spent my Crom Coins to buy Storm Glass set which I never used (I was hoping its pieces to be more useful, but I was wrong).

BUT that’s me, that’s my opinion.
I was eager when AoS came out, but now I can’t wait for it to end.

I have good expectations for the next Age tho. Hopefully it would be something about navigation or agriculture.

But, thinking about it, navigation is going to be difficult in Exiled Lands

Your welcome, it wasn’t really a big effort from my side, took me 1-2 minutes to do so with one of the many great online tools to do it.

Yeah i know they were definitely doing the “fomo” thing but luckily im more of a “does it do something? No, it just looks pretty, then i dont need it” kind of guy. Now if im getting it anyway through the new Journey system , or the battle pass, sure ill play around with it. I love the armor display mannequins , the whole second floor of my base is filled with them displaying all the new armor from Sorcery, but i think those fall into the “do they do something?” category , because they do and they’re great!

Interesting, thanks for putting this together!

Yes, mostly.

There’s not really a clear average to the BP rewards, some are excellent while others feel like they’ve been thrown in just to have something to unlock.

I agree with this, there’s not really a cohesive whole to it.

I guess it will take a new map for me to return to this game. The AoS brought some novelty, but basically it’s the same old. Even pvp on EU, ps5 feels empty.
The interactions with npcs are extremely poor. Basically it became a rinse and repeat kind of game after playing it for as long as I have. It became… boring. There’s only so much to explore and build…
One builds a base, completes a handful of short dungeons, manages to complete a few easy objectives and then the world feels kind of dead…

True.

You can give yourself goals, such as being the richest on the server (gathering coins and coins) or being the one having the strongest army (training all thralls to 20), or building the most wonderful base (without exceeding with space).

But in the end … yes, it will end up getting boring. But that’s the same for every game, I guess. Every game gets boring after a while.

AGE of SORCERY BP doesn’t provide any new building pieces.

Actually, yes, it did.

Imagine if we actually got full Arcane building set. A lot of the BP rewards are valueless filler.

emotes, paints, pet skins (who does even most of those pets ?) and ugly armor sets …
I noticed that every BP contains something like 1-2 “good” things out of 60.

Never used a thing from the first 2 BPs and I don’t even purchased the 3rd (I used 1200 coins for the stormglass set)

in the end … how does it compare ?
A huge pile of nothing !

As much as I love getting new clothes, I have to agree with you here. Most of the new armor designs range from “neat idea, but missing something” to “what the heck is even going on here?”.

Also, for the life of me I can’t figure out why so many of the new emotes can’t be used by our thralls. I’ll buy every emote that can be used by thralls, and none of the emotes that can’t.

The new themed storage boxes from the most recent Battle Pass were pretty nice, though.

What’s interesting is this data and comparing it to my Bazaar buying trends. I have realized that I get more enjoyment out of building pieces and have a higher buyer’s regret with other items. The BP broken down like this reveals why that is. BP is weak in build pieces and heavy in everything else. Bazaar purchases of everything but build pieces is drowned out by the BP items.

Thinking of it in these terms is quite interesting and honestly makes me even more sad that I missed chapter 1’s BP to round out the collection.

It is unclear if they will ever bring back content from older BPs, i think in one of the presentations they said they may put past stuff in the bazaar, or they could release an “Ultimate Pack” basically all the bazaar and Battle Pass content of tied to an “Age” for like $50 or something, So it would be “The Age of Sorcery Ultimate DLC Pack” and you get everything released from the beginning of Chapter 1 to the end and chapter 3, something like that. It’s still kinda new so we have to wait and see. Cause what about people that start playing later, they just missed all this stuff? That would really put a bad taste in my mouth if i was one of those people, I love the Wight Horse, knowing that I would never be able to get it as a new player would suck.
