Oh guys, could someone kindly remind me why would one wander about these “gardens”, other than grabbing a T4 alchemist? Was there a reason? Or are they merely ornamental, or for acquiring wood? I can’t remember.

Mostly for resources—you can pick up wood and a few random drops. The T4 alchemist is the main draw though, aside from that they don’t really have a deeper purpose. Think of them as a little bonus area rather than a must-visit spot."

A little further is the spawn of the worm that gives abysmal flesh and the spider or attach nacha arrows.
Under the bridge there’s a npc boss that gives a legendary (crap) sword that looks like star metal.
These places had meaning when gold and obsidian could only be obtained in masses from volcano. Alchemical base was very expensive back then and gold coins from around was not enough. Now it’s just a difficult option to do things.

It did used to be interesting for pvp. Quite a few nooks and crannies that could only be reached by precise Mario jumping to avoid the insta-death lava. Now you can just run across.
I had a base in one such spot that afaik was never found. Although this was before the age of cheats.
Standing in an area with the gas one day, with a breathing mask on, and some guy, with no mask, ran up to me and died at my feet. Instead of taking the free gear I offered to help him get it back and thus began an alliance with his clan that lasted til they left the server.
The last real fun I’ve had in the volcano was shield blocking their arrows while maneuvering the kos archer NPCs into backing themselves into the lava. Too bad the gas doesn’t work on them.

Thank you. I forgot to specify i am singularly Single player, virulently allergic to pvp, but thank you soo much for the input; it might give a pvper ideas =]
