Game mode: Online private Type of issue: Bug Server type: PvE Region: NA
I’ve been playing on my well-performing private server instance for a good while today.
As I kill NPCs (Exiles mostly, some Darfari) in search of certain Thralls, I have noticed they keep disappearing from the screen almost immediately after death. I frequently encounter this when combat involves multiple NPCs possibly including Mobs. It’s like they disappear when they leave your field of view.
Not de-spawning, just disappearing. No loot sacks appearing, as would have been the case if the body de-spawned. This might be similar to the rendering glitches people wrote about pertaining to unconscious thralls, but the developers would know better. This issue is occurring.
See below for more details.
Steps to Reproduce:
Visit one or more Exiles or Darfari camps
When 2 or more NPCs are engaged simultaneously strike them down in close succession
Move past the first NPC on your way to the second or third.
Circle back to collect the loot from the bodies.
About two-thirds of the time all bodies will remain
In my experience, the bodies are disappearing visually quite often - often enough to submit this report.
The bodies are often still in the game, but just not visible. It is REALLY difficult to walk around the empty space to locate them.
If they would despawn, often you’d expect to see a loot sack. These are not leaving loot sacks.
These bodies are not unconscious.
You can find them and harvest them with a axe or pick, but as mentioned earlier, not easy.
I have also observed that in my client I often face a high degree of textures reloading excessively.
See Also: annoying texture loads (cache misses), cause my client to register Gigabytes of extra disk access while playing.
Extremely annoying, especially if you are looking that particular piece of loot ! I’ve found that happens more in some spots than in others, but no clear pattern.
The only workaround that we have (90%?) is a quick relog. Most of the time the dead are standing and either collapse to the ground or just stand there as if skewered.
There are cases I have found that they reappear depending on point of view. Move a bit and they appear, back and they are gone. At least then I have no need for a relog, just walk to where you saw them for an instant and look down.
Something makes me think it’s related to tethering behaviour. KO one, stand near and tether, and all of a sudden the body is dragged from a spot 30 feet away. It seems to be a disconnect between the client and the server concerning location, again, with no clear pattern.
They are going underground, walking out of draw distance and returning you will see them. This bug has been around forever it seems, don’t hold your breath for a fix.
Which is essentially the same as a relog. You are reloading the cell.
I find the relog method to be faster and a bit more reliable, since I don’t have to guess how far to run or inadvertently draw agro from something else, but to each, his own.
I fully agree the issue is low on the priority list, especially with the recent events and upcoming changes.
Yeah, with this and many other Conan Exiles bugs that have to do with server and client being out of sync, the first question is always “Have you tried relogging?”
Another good example is when you knock out a thrall and you see it fall through the ground. Just relog and it should be lying there.
