NPC's damage buildings whilst building-damage turned off

Game mode: Online private
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PvP
Region: US

After some testing I have come to the conclusion that NPC’s that use ranged weapons can damage player-made structures.

Relic_Hunter_TombRaider_Fighter_1 can damage player-made buildings with its explosive orbs.
Relic_Hunter_TombRaider_Archer_2 can damage player-made buildings with its bow and arrows.
Black_Hand_Archer_1_Darfari can damage player-made buildings with its bow and arrows.

A Red Dragon’s ranged fire attack does not seem to damage player-made structures.
NPC’s of the ‘Fighter’-type does not seem to damage player-made structures with their melee weapons.

Whilst I didn’t test it more, I am assuming that all NPC’s wielding a bow & arrows or other ranged weapons such as explosive orbs can damage player-made structures.

Important note: to test the above I have used spawner-objects from a mod called Pippi. I also tested this with a single archer that naturally spawned at New Asagarth and it also damaged the player-made structure.

The checkbox for ‘Can damage player owned structures’ is not checked, so building damage is off for players. I had always assumed that this would then also have its effect on NPC’s. I’m not sure if this is how it is intended to work (as a feature) or if this is a bug. If it’s not a bug, I believe it would be nice to see a setting to also disable structure-damage from NPC’s.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Make sure that ‘Can damage player owned structures’ is not checked in the settings.
  2. Spawn one of the above-mentioned NPC’s, untamed.
  3. Lure it to a structure and stand in front of it. Have the NPC shoot at you or throw explosive orbs at you.
  4. The building-piece you’re standing close to (or the one where the arrow/orb lands) will be damaged.

I would flag this report to be unlisted even though the tests are very much appreciated. Such issues are better to be reported via the exploit hunters tool as they may have a huge impact on the online servers.

It is my understanding that this is as intended. Otherwise, the purge would not be able to damage player made structures. I am not sure if this applies to thralls that have already been broken/tamed. NPC’s are the same as those that show up with a purge.

This is for you and players and player “owned” thralls/pets and siege gear etc, Not free-roam AI’s who can always break your stuff.

Most free-roam AI’s can harm your buildings, (as Purges allow this) Some enemy units can’t, but list was fairly small.

Interesting. If it is indeed a feature rather than a bug, I think it would be only normal to also let us disable NPC damage to player-structures since we can already disable purges. This can be of all sorts of benefits for different play-modes and creative uses of Conan Exiles outside of the standard survival-playstyle, especially on private multiplayer servers.

EDIT: suggestion-topic has been opened here. This bug report can be closed/removed. Thank you.
