Obscure items in the Exiled Lands & Siptah

In another post I had asked about an obscure item I found in Hanuman’s Grotto.

The item turned out to be an Arcane Staff. In the post comments other obscure items came to light.

Does anyone else know of any other obscure items in the game.
I have included Siptah in this post as I’m assuming (rightly or wrongly) that Siptah may also have obscure items.

Maybe today, maybe this weekend (depending on how much time I have), I’ll gather my loyal knights and set out on a quest for every piece of nonsense I can think of and take screenshots.

@Keldy

I have discovered other obscure artifacts over the years, but at the moment ‘craft’s disease’ is my greatest enemy.
I only asked about the Arcane Staff in Hanuman’s Grotto because I saw it every time I started a new game, and finally decided to get my A into G and find out what it actually was. I always thought it was a fancy dagger. Never paid much attention to it. I’d walk in, think ‘oh there it is again’, carry on, and then most times get my butt kicked by Hanuman’s Disciple. Always worth it though. When I succeeded I always got a Deep Drink Waterskin, and most times Hanuman’s Staff. On the very rare occasion, a piece of SL Heavy Armour. All are precious at start of game.

I look forward with interest to the results of your quest. Depending on the time-line (I’m in NZ) I would love to join you. Maybe SP Co-op.

There are lots of Easter eggs/unmarked locations in Exiled Lands.
I realized that my memory is my main enemy, so I at least took a quick trip around the map to visit a few of my favorites.

Graveyard in Silkwood

it is good to go through all the graves

Probably my favorite location, every player will surely know it—it’s not marked on the map, but I call it Arreat Summit.
Hidden in the mountains of the frozen north, I was lucky to take a screenshot before the fight broke out—poor mammoth, it usually doesn’t survive very long.

I tried to record the whisper when you come to Ymils Craddle, but of course, as usual, there’s a storm and it’s raining, so you can’t hear anything.

Those graves are one of three easter eggs relating to the youtube channel Neebs Gaming (who did a very entertaining CE playthrough many years back when the game was new). The voices stuck behind the door with the levers (near the Child of Jhebbal Sag) are also the same guys. Finally there is a more recently added monument in the volcano commemorating Thick44 (Tony Schur) who sadly passed away a couple of years ago.

Another interesting grave is by the brimstone lake (near Warmaker) - inscription made by that NPC from mounds (Braga?). Also emote book at the same place.

I remember coming across this hand sticking out of the sand in the desert where you spawn, but I cannot remember the exact location of it :joy:

those “burried bodies” , were a dig at undermeshers by funcom when they implemented their anti undermesh automated system , preventing a lot of undermesh locations ( unfortunately not all , and some regular caves had some false positive killing you the instant you set foot in them )

That screenshot is taken on January 20, 2020… 6 years ago, I believe that the antimesh system came later than that

There are so many, it is hard to remember them off hand. Here are a few.

Murderbunnies (this is what they are actually called in the devkit). Four rabbits guarding a corpse located on a ridge in G4:

Crock attack. A crocodile will leap out of the water and snap in the air in the water at I4:

Crock taking a swim. If you stand at the curse wall at O8, near to a giant croc boss, you can watch another giant croc on the other side of the wall slowly emerge from behind a hill and crawl into the water before disappearing below the surface:

Well the thing is the feature was made available in january 2020 for people to test it in testlive and on private servers/solo play, so I believe it’s at the same time that they put the “sinking body parts” too , but was turned on around november 2020 on officials

Those rabbits probably have holy hand grenade stashed somewhere..

They don’t have one, you need to use the Holy Orb of Hyboria on them… but only after consulting the Book of Armaments on its proper use.

The power of Holy Water . . .

at this point someone would also have found Jakkad’s body

Not sure I ever encountered that one, I shall have to look out for it

I used to encounter that one in every play session, but haven’t seen it in years now. Either I no longer wind up swimming through the trigger spot for some reason, or perhaps it has stopped triggering. I shall have to look for it again at some point. I do like the murder bunnies, just one of those little humourous touches, and I’ve watched the big croc head out for a swim a few times.

Mostly I thought, for the sake of having it all in one thread, I’d add the link again here to a post I made some years back showing a poor guy frozen in ice (the location is explained in apost further down in the thread), and that thread also brings up the ghost bear north of the mounds that can be followed to a chest (probably still bugged, but the ghost should still be there). And also to link back to @The_Hawke‘s previous thread that triggered this discussion and includes some more of these fun little finds.

If I can think of anything else not covered here or in one of those threads, I shall add it

Big croc is still there - went there today and saw him crawling to water.

Yeah, I figured he would be. The one I’m wondering about is the croc in noob river that launches into the air when you swim past. I haven’t seen him for ages.

I took all of those screenshots just before posting them.
