the game could have the return of the old Purge, it could have both forms of purge
I preferred the old purge and would like to see it come back, but it won’t, so the second best option is Xevyr’s Purge Mod.
I’m running Xevyr’s Purge Mod. Works great! Even lets me configure the random purges to just the ones I want (like human attackers only; no animal purges).
I miss the old animal purges.
My opinion an experiences on this topic in official PVE and leaving aside the exploits topic.
For non end game players or newbies or casual players the randomness of the old could be a nightmare or something really frustrating.
Sometimes when a purge was triggered, the performance went down drastically and even quite often the server ended up crashing. this was really annoying and a cause much players if died, they were unable to recover their stuff, if they didnt relogin on time to come back to recover their corpse within 15 minutes aprox. It was badly stressing. Just for this reason, when this system was removed I actually applauded such decission and today i still thinking the same bcos I dare to say the poor performance in officials wont ever be solved or enhanced.
But there were two things that were good: I feel there were more player interaction and the map was not so overbuilt as it is nowadays I’d say, in the servers I played.
Nowadays a player new to the server can run straight to the Mounds and start building sandstone bases or outposts all over the map. With the old purge this was a risk or suicide if you decided to build your sandstone base being lvl 20 f.e. in those high tier areas because when you got a purge, most likely a berseker purge, you and your sandstone base would probably be wiped off the map. And that’s the main reason why I liked the old purge. The game progression was not as easy as it is now and, except maybe some reckless or noob, I only saw level 3 fortresses in T3 or T4 purge zones, but never the huge amount of buildings and many of them sandstone that I see today, which, in my personal opinion, is slowly crushing the server performance aggravated by the fact that many players, as always, like a horde of zombies, tend to build their megabases in the same places, all close together, all next to each other, adding more lag to the server.
The new purge in many cases is implying to the player to build more: the main base and the purge base and we know the more buildings in the server the worse for the server, never the opposite, in officials at least.
The new purge is significantly worse on performance and server crashing than the old purges ever were.
Unfortunately the game has abandoned us or at least most of the community, I’ve played PVP/PVE-C AND PVE, I recently posted a topic here too with my farewell, I had a base with 4 years on a PVE server that I played there to feel relaxed and away from fights and PVP raids, they evoked the purge and destroyed my deposit which was on a mountain and in it had all the rare items and unique things that I will never get again, and with this bug they call demolishers and golems to destroy your base, funcom is aware of this and this has been happening for about more than 1 year, I am grateful to Conan for having provided me with unique moments of happiness, making friendships that I will carry forever in my heart, goodbye Conan Exiles, in these 6 thousand hours and 5 years playing Conan Exiles
great stuff, it affs variety, wish that funcom could implement this, (opt in if player wants) pretty sure this purge will be far less problematic than the old vanilla one.
