I started in '03
Started in 2005 at the age of 10 , played for 10 solid years with really no breaks. Havent been active since 2015, as life happened. Im probably one of the younger oldbies.
I do end up checking forums every now and then, to see whats going on and if there are any familiar names.
I just hope the game wont be completely dead by the time i get time to play this awesome game again.
At the age of 10?!?
AO is one game that I always think children would never play, amazed to find that is not the case
I started in '04 or '05. I’d been gone for over a decade until I came back in late 2020. I’m glad I did. I’ve even managed to find some familiar faces. An errant leet returning to the flock. The Bloc, I mean. o.O)) The Leet-Bloc.
Yes my dad gave me the alternative, he could continue paying for runescape or i could start playing AO with him and my uncle. Thank god that i was “hacked” and lost all my stuff in runescape, made the choice simple. After playing for about half a year or so i convinced a few other real life friends to start playing AO, we were about 4-5 kids around the same age playing back then (with some help twinking in the beginning). Though over the years the only ones that continued playing was me, runpiggyrun and fluffybozzie. We were playing a bunch low level toons for quite sometime until we got the proper understanding of the game mechanics/twinking and leveled up together to 220.
Started in 2001, but launch was garbage so I stopped. Later found the Sybex Anarchy Online strategies and secrets book in a store and an ex gf and I decided to start playing again, and found that it was improved a bit. I kept trying to create an agent character, but she and I were doing everything on our own so it was REALLY slow and grindy. A couple of years later (we’d split) I found an org, but they needed nano techs, so I created a new character. Maxxphluxx. At the time he was one of maybe 5 Opifex NTs (I see there are many now). It certainly made playing interesting. If I spent a day or so on implant laddering I could get my skills up to nanomage levels while still having the somewhat higher HP and dodge of Opi, so that was fun. I think around 206 is when the Org I was in started petering out a bit. I’ve come back off and on since then. Currently making a new NT (nanomage), but since I’m pretty familiar with NT I’m not bothering to go through every level this time. It’s been fun so far, but even the “new” engine is old looking (we used to make jokes every two or three years about them talking about working on the engine).
Started in 2004, still here \o
Clan since 2001. Proud member of EcoDisaster (one of the first clan orgs in rk2), Nemesis and DI.
Cant play as much i wish nowadays, but still around
Anarchy was out 2 weeks and I bought it. Have 4 accounts two paid and 2 banks. There was a fifth account with all my good loot and a 178 MA and a 150 Trader Then Windows {biggest virus ever} started it screw ups. And some how the fifth estate vanished oh well. been 6 month renew ever since. I have two paid accounts for a total of 24 characters [may be more LOL] They are all different classes it fun trying to figure out the best attack moves. Yea I dare you play an MA then next try a MP. The Highest characters I now have is a 76 Trader and a 80 something MA. My main problem Is Map blindness’ I have Temple of Three Winds down pat. The Foreman’s Office been there die a lot LOL. I have a friend Vinnie he is my map, played it all several times in fact. You wanted something for a toon off we go and get it. How many remember spend all day Sunday getting buffs, implants, rings and bottles of wine just to get 3 points to put on a weapon. Those were the days Well after this I be looking for the Quest to get Living Cyber armor chest and boots, yea my fixer leveled out of the subway with every thing now she half way through Temple Its time to start completing some armor sets. By the way I be retired and so I can spend time in the game at just about any when. Bye for now GPS blind Mikie catch you later. PS all my characters are female. If my point of view is from behind I will not be watching a guys butt wiggle.
Continuing the discussion from Oldbies around? 15+ years?:
Started with Beta in 2001. I like bearing the claim to fame for having Funcom send us those emails (and reminder notices everywhere) about not giving out our passwords (I got duped into giving my password to a scammer who made a very impressive Funcom-Like email/website). I left for a year (I went and played EveOnline) after Funcom refused to give me back/return any of my stuff (it took years to amass a fortune, especially in small orgs). Loved the game so much that I came back and bought 2 accounts and been here ever since!
Started in 2003, discovered AO when the Shadowlands addon was hyped in the media.
Been playing until 2013, when first DNW was shut down and my orgs dissolved in the chaotic server merge, and then the same chaos repeated itself with the Atlantean/Rimor merge. Losing all the hard built community ties twice in a row was too much for me.
Returned a few weeks ago with my two fr00b accounts, trying to find my feet back in the game.
Kinda-sorta looking for an org, but seems like most only accept TL6+ characters nowadays.
Still undecided whether to reactivate my old accs, mostly due to price. 18$ a month for a game of this age and maintenance state is… a bit steep.
Spathilludic was born on Mon Oct 10 17:03:07 2005. My first toon.
Joined Org First Light. But after everyone got lost i moved over to Unity of the Rose.
Started in 2004, member of Free Souls, Rimor. After org Welcome.
AO still alive and this amazing ^
50+ Oldbie here!
2001 - After the Backyard Tut, at AO Relase Day i was a “prisoner” in a Athen Shop (instance bug), but i meet some of my first AO friends there, next day we were on a fist Mission!
2001 First Clan org. “eXodus” - 2002 DNW - MA Mihu in the Clan org. “Shadowmoon Association”, later in “Sunglasses Corp.” after that we (my son and i) have play over 7 Years SWG and later SWTOR from time to time, i was back in AO to buy and see all the AddOns, but only for some more Weeks, idk why, i don’t found my grip in AO 2018 again, was already too far away for me without team for my MA hardly still playable (EDIT: my MA Gear was just to outdated, here is many SL and AI work to do ),
Inferno I have thus never seen and from AI also almost nothing, but omw …
Some old DNW org. - Organisationen auf DNW | Anarchy Online | Fandom
CLAN MA Mihu
CLAN Fixer Matixa
some (no xp) twinks Keeper 60 for ToTW and Omni MP 100 for FO (Biomare)
Last I played in 2018, my MA made me despite I already SL Sym Amor and 200+ implants and AI Gear had, no more fun, my next SL quest were “alone” so still not to finish.
So I had then started to play the TQ and especially my L70 Fixer played further, this should be first L120, But with L113, i have quit AO again. Now I want to try it again with AO and a yearly pay acc, maybe I can find an Org, for Old SciFi MMO Heros like me? idk, i give AO a last? try EDIT: (have found a Clan org. )
Normally I also play fantasy MMO in the guild Alte Helden “Old Heroes”, there my people unfortunately have no interest in AO, they just play NW and SoLO - but I’m just drawn back to AO after BDO and FF14 now I must be silly.
FC and Omni is my Friend or? OR?
Ya, my Twinks cost Millions and Millions and Millions … but i need them all!
have Fun!
I started early 2002 and played about 2 years with a few breaks.
Did a lot of alts and XP grinding, a bit too much
Main char: Goriz, atrox doc, (I think I was the first trox-doc to hit 200 in sep 2002). Might not been the best choice back then, but fun.
I played SL for a little when it was new and pushed a Keeper (Neolithic) to 194 before my break from AO.
Just got back to the game after a 17 years, thanks to @Caloss2 vids on YT
Really nostalgic and fun to be back, at least so far!
Played on launch day 2001. Went away, then came back like 6 months later. Played fiercely right up to when WoW released in 2004. Then I had two nostalgia returns in 2008 and most recently 2016. Now, I am back to paid on two accounts, having more fun than I have in an MMO in years.
Hi.
Does anyone remember me by name?
I played since launch day until 2010.
Most if not all (likely) people I played with are likely gone, but I still saw a few familiar names over here.
Got an AO itch after getting a nostalgic old man’s mood and was pretty surprised to find the game I wasted my youth on was still going
Eridonis sounded familiar, but I couldn’t rememeber. Found you in my quotes file though!
[Uprising] Eridonis: 90sk from ding lol
[Uprising] Chimx: go kill a heck you noob
[Uprising] Eridonis: lol
[Uprising] Eridonis: i dont wanna
[Uprising] Bwekkake: you shy f***
[Uprising] Eridonis: ok i will
[Uprising] Eridonis: tada
[Uprising] Bwekkake: 219?
You feel the core of your being shift, as the source makes room for a divine presence. ‘Eridonis’ has reached enlightenment.
I have reactivated my accounts for a month to see whether the game still has the same spark for me, we will see.
coool!
Can’t remember when I joined, all I can remember was that it was before Notum Wars.
I had an adventurer called Benjy who was in the OT Org Legion.
Used to use my downtime walking around Trade and Ent turning people into leets.
Currently 29 on my froob account, so no mass leeting at the moment.
Doing a google search on my name brought back a memory.
Think I was the 1st person to dual wield Diamondine Kick Pistols.
