Pak file corrupt or tampered with, verify integrity. Zero Mods. Full reinstall. Nothing works

It’s been about 6 days and i haven’t crashed. i’ve mostly stayed up north. I also tried installing the game on a different partition, but it wouldn’t install on it, so i just installed it back on the regular harddrive.

I doubt the issue is fixed though because It’s not like i’ve been playing a ton everyday. But I guess we’ll see. It’s all still inconclusive as to what the issue is.

So it’s been another 6 days, so about 12 total and the error finally happened again, still in the desert while I was there for maybe…5-10 minutes after spending hours and hours all these days up north.

Maybe it’s still a coincidence, but i still haven’t had this issue outside of the desert. And no one else seems to be actually keeping track of this issue so I can’t 100% confirm if it’s the same with others because they aren’t keeping track of where the error happens.

I can at least make an educated guess that it’s not anything related to something anyone has built in their base since the same issue happens in a single player game, again, in the desert. If I ever do get this issue up north, I’ll post on this thread about it.

But I think it’s interesting that when I was getting the error 3-5 times a day sometimes 10 times in one day, I was in the desert all the time. But now I can go almost two weeks without this error when I’m in the north and only go to the desert when I need to, which is one every other day. Then suddenly crash in the desert near the area of my old base (near the giant hand where the ghost lady jumps from)

I got a similar message about pak file tampering when I tried to start up the game for the first time today. I simply clicked ok to close the game. And then restart it and then the game started right up with no problems

Yeah. the issue always popped up and then went away when playing again.

The problem though is that it always eventually comes back. Sometimes a lot, somethings not a lot.

Welp, it finally happened. I got the error 5 minutes after logging in up north. in my base…
I still haven’t heard back from Funcom after reporting it a few weeks ago.

So after crashing once up north, i figure it wouldn’t matter where I am on the map, I’m just gonna keep getting error. So I’ve been spending more time in the desert again…and sure enough, I’m getting error over and over. I’m currently validating the files again today.

So I can only conclude that the error happens more often in the desert and less often up north. This is the first time in a while I’ve gotten the error multiple times in a row.

Now it’s happening everywhere frequently. I don’t know what else to do at this point other than get a new computer, which I plan to do later this year for other reasons. So I guess there’s no solution to this. I wasn’t expecting one since it’s been happening for others since 2019 or 18.

Maybe I missed it but whats your hardware (cpu, graphics card, etc)? Could it just be that your pc is not beefy enough and its overheating?

I have one last suggestion for you, do another full reinstall, then go to the folder with the pak files and sort them by date, check if there is any file which has a different date than your install date and delete it. Then verify and try to log again. If this doesn’t fix it, then it is something with your computer, drivers, windows, I can’t say but I doubt the devs can help you here as it is hard and time consuming to provide tech support just based on what the player tells you.

like i’ve said a few times, i’ve checked my hardware and everything says it’s fine. I’ve been playing for years without this issue, it’s recent.

Anyway, I’ve finally installed it on a new harddrive. Playing for a few days now, just got the same error yet again. So I assume the issue isn’t harddrive related. I don’t know. I’ve uninstalled the game and deleted everything related to it multiple times. I’ve checked my hardware multiple times with different programs. Now, I’ve tried a new harddrive. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the microsoft visual stuff. Nothing works. Just like the other people who have had this issue, it remains unresolved.

I know there’s something wrong, I’m just trying to figure out what it is. So at this point, I guess i’ll see what happens later this year if I end up building a new PC

I’m so sorry to hear you’re having this problem and still no solution. I hope it gets fixed for you soon

I’ll have to wait and see whenever I get to build my new PC. I’m waiting to see how the prices do on GPUs.

After installing on the new HDD, the error happens even more now. Almost every time I teleport via a map room. I’m installing it back on the other harddrive now. So maybe it is hardware related?
