@ Sonya Maybe we should stop Banning people and giving out IPs so they dont attack our server…We are allowed to give out peoples IPs to get them DDos’d right?
Indeed, I have thought this too.
They are always very quick to fix exploits, which is great, top marks, but why can’t the same effort go into fixing other things too? I does seem to be taking a very long time to release other fixes… I feel we are going to be getting another MOAP… my server is almost dead now anyway so it probably won’t matter soon.
I appreciate the offer mate, thank you, but I host the server I play on and still have commitments to my community to continue.
Our server isn’t dead just yet, but we are down from an average 25 players online at any one time to just 3 players at any one time. We still get a few new starters which is good and many of the original players are waiting in the winds for either more content or more bug fixes. These delays are not helping our situation though.
Same could be said about this forum, fewer and fewer posts to read each day
Exploits can sometimes be an easier fix than a bug. Some systems are connected in ways that makes a fix for one a new bug for another. A few weeks previous they did announce less patches in favour of a Quality over Quantity approach.
These open world games are hard to perfect and very easy to break. That’s why they are all filled with bugs. Every dev from Bethesda to Wildcard try to minimize them.
And logically if the bugs were so easily quashed, wouldn’t they just do it? Even if it just meant less posts to moderate and filter for abuse and inappropriate conduct which eats a fair amount of the community team’s time while they try to communicate the best negative and positive feedback to the appropriate teams.
As Carbunkel already noted, they slowed the whole process down not least because of players demanding for it. It only comes natural, that there are less information to give on a weekly basis then.
I guess Tascha is on vacation since she is absent for two weeks now. And I feel it difficult when players judging the complexity of code and bugfixes. Your example of the typo is an exception, though.
Well, as firespark outlined correctly, the major problem of Conan Exile are not bugs, but it’s endgame/long term content. We would see much more people playing and testing if they would know why they should do so. And that’s a far bigger problem to “fix” than any bug!
Oh Im pretty sure they are well aware of it. Even if they add working pets, purges, sorcery, or even mounts, the core issue will persist. The question is what they wanted to acive during the conceptional phase. As they mention some future conan project they want to gain benefit from CE it’s possible they never intented to make the game a that enduring. Just a bit more as it is right now. It’s a sandbox for FC,too! Maybe for something bigger and better. Hopefully
I must admit that when the last Testlive was launched and the suggestion of a longer testing period, I thought that to mean we would be getting frequent little patches as the testlive was prepared for main branch over the period.
I haven’t been keeping up on a personal level with Tascha, but she has been posting on her personal Twitter, which has shown up in the unofficial dev tracker. If she is on vacation, which it sounds like she is, then it’s probably for health reasons if I were to wager a guess, based on the content she has been posting.
That’s all I will say on that though, why she is on vacation or personal leave or whatever it is has nothing to do with us and it’s up to her to share where she is at or not.
I’ve not followed Tascha on any other forum, but if what you say might be true, then I’d like to express my love, thoughts and prayers for her and wish her a speedy recovery.
If I remember my count right, there have been 6 test live patches starting in August. I also have no idea what you expect Tascha to be doing even if she was around. She’s not a developer, she’s part of the community team.
As for imprssions, they JUST had a Q and A on Friday that talked about all the things they expect to hit test live soon. So I’m not sure how you can watch that stream and claim and shout that Funcom is abandoning the game.
Since announcing the 4-6 week schedule for updates to fix bugs, funcom has released two patches to fix bugs that people have been exploiting … one a week after that announcement and then this recent one …two weeks later.
I know it’s not the updates we hoped for: that is updates that fix a range of long-running bugs that are universally disadvantageous for all nor were they updates that added the new content we are waiting for… BUT they are patches to the game to address ongoing issues…
so in my view … they are ahead and doing better than their announced schedule … but in having to redirect personnel to get these hot fixes ready to go to live it will delay other aspects.
However, I appeal to you and others (who is obviously passionate about this game) to not use their time estimates against them …
An exploit is merely a bug that gives something advantageous to players. So they have fixed three recently that were giving advantages to some at the expense of other players.
