Region: EU

Edition: Steam
Bug Description:
This bug has been present since the very start of the pet / thrall system.
It has been reported numerous times, but it has been closed without it actually getting fixed
Here’s an example report by someone else and there’s plenty others all over the forums and the internet (a bunch on reddit etc): (lol can’t link to funcom forums which imo is a bit of a fail so gonna delete the first part of the url /t/the-hyena-does-not-attack/185253 )
I had this happen both with mods and without any mods installed, had it happen for a greater jaguar as well, but the hyena seems to be the most prone to get it (literally happening all the time with that)
What happens?
Sometimes the pet AI bugs out, it goes from working properly to suddenly not doing anything.
The pet enters combat (bar changes overhead to combat mode), but it does not move or attack at all, just stands there while being attacked, constantly adjusting facing towards the enemy, but never attacking back as if it couldn’t path to the enemy or something (despite being right infront of it).
The only way I managed to temporarily “unstuck” its AI is to restart the server itself… then it works for a while, but breaks again not long after if the pet is being used.
Installed Mods:
Currently installed mods: Emberlight, Lament, Thrall Sidekick, Stacking Bleed (cuz we’re stubborn), Modcontrolpanel, Better Thralls, Commando, Extended Shortcut Bars, Glass Constructions, Hosav’s UI, Noctis, Northern Timber, Pythagoras: Expanded Building, Configurable Elevators, Less building placement restrictions.
I realize that’s a fair amount of mods and some of them even affect pets, however like I pointed out above, I have had this exact same thing happen numerous times in the past when playing with absolutely no mods installed, so the problem is definitely in the core game.
Steps to Reproduce:
Step 1: Tame a pet, Hyena would be easiest to trigger the bug with.
Step 2: Set the pet to follow and give it a few stacks of food (inventory management might contribute, trying to force-feed it for stat bonuses?)
Step 3: Set up pet to guard area or you, attack and chase distance to medium, follow distance to short (Not sure if it matters, that’s what I had set up)
Step 4: Roam around with the pet following and attack several camps / NPCs, sometimes with you killing them, sometimes the pet. Be sure to harvest some more meat from the victims and give it to the hyena inventory, see if that affects it…
If repeating these last few steps and just roaming around, sooner or later it will just happen and the pet will no longer attack anything.
