Playing Conan Exiles on Linux

So I made the switch today and enjoy the desktop and everything, it’s just so wow compared to Windows 11, so responsive, so thought over etc.

But how do I play Conan? :innocent:

I never played anything on Linux.

Is this guide valid or is there a better way?: Workaround to Latest 2024 patch that broken Linux Proton gameplay

Wine 6.x is what they are using to bring games over to Linux. It’s not perfect, so it will always look like a hack.

How? Easiest way is to buy the ps5 and conan for it.

For Linux use Proton 8.0-5 in Steam with steam beta client. This works for me fine.

It works, I tried in solo but I can’t connect to any server with Battle Eye enabled.
Is there any way around that? It says that Battle Eye service does not work properly and disconnects me on server loading screen.

I can play on unofficial Server without problems.

I Googled around and it seems Battle Eye is not a thing on Linux.
But VAC still works. Both don’t stop cheaters in Conan Exiles anyway…

I disabled Battle Eye on my private server and the game runs maxed out without any issues, there is no performance hit or anything.

So both of my fav games run on Linux without issues, Valve did a great job with the Proton. And Linux itself made much progress since I last tried it, it’s plug and play now.

No more Bill spying on me, ever

Thank you donbzm, it works great!
No need for terminal commands or anything, I installed it and it just works somewhere in the background and does not bother me.

I tested on officials and on my private, all good.

I also have that visual bug in main menu (you mentioned it in linked thread), but the rest of the game looks the same as on Windows.

Bug? That looks awfully intentional:

Either an easter egg or some joke image used as a fallback in case the regular one fails to load.

It’s just the main menu background, all the rest of the game including loading screens etc looks normal.
I’m still stunned by all the great work Valve had done with their Proton.
They have made Linux a viable option for average Joe now.

2 days later not a single crash. Really times have changed when it comes to Linux gaming.
