My brothers and I had pet rats. They’re super cute and smart. My dad hated pets lol… so he said we couldn’t have any females, only males. He didn’t want them “breeding in the walls.” lol… He’s softened up in recent years and mildly tolerates the cats my sister and mom have… and my sister’s dog.

We say my sister had different parents. He softened up so much in his old age and she’s way younger than the rest of us. She even got him to do that Gangnam dance or whatever… on the corner of a busy street while she filmed him. :expressionless: #notmydad lol…

Tbf… now that I’m older, I totally get this mentality. It’s not so much that my dad HATED animals… he liked them, sorta… but the idea is that who’s the one taking care of said pets? He is. He got tired of having to take care of dogs and cats and feed them because us kids wouldn’t do it regularly… then with small animals, it was also about cleaning out the cages and stuff on regular basis. 9 times outta 10, parents get pets for their little kids, but in reality, the pets are taken care of by the parents. If you have no desire to take on that responsibility, then of course you’re gonna not want the damn things around in the first place. :unamused:

Very much this, being a parent myself I made a decision after my son absolutely, 100% promised, always will do no matter what to have turtles, it would be the last time we got pets for him. Instead, it would be a family pet(s) that everyone took care of. So, cats!

Turtles are fascinating but holy damn, they are DIRTY. Guess who cleaned the aquarium?

And as long as you’re committed to potentially being the only one taking care of them, more power to you! See, my dad didn’t wanna do that… and yet he still feeds the cats to this day… mostly with a grumbling sound.

Most people are unaware of what I takes to keep turtles, and it isn’t a little plastic dish with a coconut tree

Most adults can be housed happily in a 100 gallon aquarium. Some owners opt to create custom enclosures for their pets as well. Generally speaking, there should be 6 inches of aquarium floor per every 1 inch of turtle. If the turtle has a carapace length of 9 inches, it will require 54 inches of aquarium floor space.”

To set up a painted turtle habitat tank, you need a large aquarium with at least 10 gallons of water per inch of your turtle’s shell length, providing a dedicated basking area with a heat lamp and UVB light, a shallow water level for swimming, and aquatic plants for hiding and enrichment, while ensuring proper water filtration and regular water changes to maintain optimal water quality;a bare bottom tank is generally preferred for easy cleaning.

I’ve had box turtles. Much easier to keep. Most all terrestrial tortures are.

I had a musk turtle for years. Could not keep anything else with it. Seriously, if you would a dozen minnows in the tank at night you would have zero when you woke up the next morning and they were barely smaller in length than the turtle was. :scream:

I used to have a pet Atrax Robustus when I was growing up. Dad brought it home from work for me.

Oh no my dear @Graywarden i have no actual problem with it. For me the “mazochist” like my dear sestus2009 is calling me, this is not an issue, this is a challenge! Like every other bug we have over the years.
But it would be nice they actually “delete” these bugs especially the ones that @PhilC is showcasing.
It cannot be more positive and why not creative way to address issues. That’s why i asked my dearest @Oduda to change from feedback to creative. I really wish one day we’ll read this topic and laugh with the “past” condition of the game .

We’ve all done it before, we’ll do it again.

I wouldn’t call them tortures exactly, they’re mostly quite painless.

We used to have one too. He was allowed to roam free in our apartment. He clawed scratch marks on every door and piece of furniture, and when he crapped on a rug, the stuff burned its way through. In a way he was like a slow, clumsy, hard-shelled cat.
