Yes, it does. What doesn’t make sense is stopping the development because of old hardware.
If they stop developing the game, everyone will conclude it’s abandoned and the players will massively desert. If they only stop developing it on a single platform, the players on that platform will complain about how it’s not fair.
The development goes on, and there’s a limit to how much they can optimize the game so it can keep running on old hardware.
What Everquest (1) is still around?!? Joking aside, I am actually surprised how long that is game is going after all these years. Last time I truly played that game was probably in 2005. Fun times. Great memories. No game could compare to that one, since it was my first hard-core MMO I played (Meriden 59 I played before it but did not play it nearly as much as EQ1) Your first main game you played will usually be one of your favorites, no matter how bad the game was truly was at the time. lol. In my case, was really the last time I truly roleplayed with the guild and others consistently.
This game will continue to be worked on while they continue to bring revenue in. They already stated there is a big update coming in 3.0 so that alone tells you they are still working on the game. This game was never big in survival games numbers, but maintain a good consist player base to keep the game going. I am looking forward to what changes/updates they are working on for this year.
Still available for purchase from the last gen consoles marketplace. The performance issues started after the huge memory shave patch 18 months ago. It was intended to provide stability. Too much memory was shaved and the result is lag, lag, lag. It had little to do with developing the game content to a future point. It is a result of trying to keep the game from crashing. Like so many other patches, it fixed one issue and created a game wide side effect. Its just another mistake. Par for the course.
Aware. But each platform has a day the software was originally made available to that platform. That would be the original model console the game was ported to and for.
What do you call it when the developers take away texture detail and lower framerates?
The servers have a limit to what they can support. Its why fc claims ce did not get a black forest biome. Remember?
Looked for the patch notes from the stability patch. Couldnt locate it now. When the forum bearded viking guy wrote the notes for the patch 18 months ago, he stated that memory was being reallocated from other tasks to improve server stability.
I assume a server is not a solid block, like a wooden slab. I assume there is some device or apparatus that controls the servers performance. I assume that device has some sort of processor or motherboard. I assume that processor or motherboard has limitations.
Yes, which is why Funcom keeps trying to optimize the game to accomplish more with less memory. If that’s what you meant by “memory shaving”, then you can’t “shave too much memory” and cause lag.
