Please developers don't abandon Conan Exiles, listen to your players

The teaser trailer shows Dune looking very different from CE, even though there isn’t much info on the game atm. So far, I don’t see too much Conan Exiles survival type gameplay being implemented into Dune.

That’s “Dune: Spice Wars”. It’s a different game set in the same universe. “Dune: Spice Wars” is an RTS game, not a survival game Funcom is planning/developing.

I didn’t realize there were two different games, thanks for the correction.

Yeah it has led to much confusion, but in fact two separate games.

We already know the 3.0 patch will be the largest update to the game ever. Why do you feel the devs abandoned the game?

I know what abandoned games look like, Conan Exiles is not abandoned, i was just debating with the guy on tuning for pvp or what i thought pvp was like. If people really want to see what abondoned games look like, look no further than a few of my old favorite games like Warcraft 3 reforged, Heroes of the Storm, and Starcraft 2.

Ce has outgrown the xb console model it was released on originally. Currently runs like a lagged out nightmare on anything below x/s series for xb. Combat is 90% of CE. Combat so lagged out npcs do damage before they are in range. Lag spikes while combat is active results in huge damage dropped at the end of the spike. No outgoing interrupts or staggering a npcs attacks. Incoming effects are still active against the player. Fighting anything more than 1 npc results in a constant interrupt to the player and thralls that cannot be negated. Framerate issues. Meshed textures, and unpredictable build stability…

Oh boy! Cant wait for the next update! 3.0, the console melter patch…

Good luck everybody. The last time i logged CE is now the last time i will log. Years and years of gathered loot is now just time wasted.

Thanks for everyrhing Funcom, as if.

Gotcha. Now I’m looking forward the survival Dune game again, i saw the Spice wars trailer and was disappointed but now that I know another one is coming

You need a new console… runs very smooth on ps5

Yeah? Does spending $900 canadian to get one Funcom game to run as the developer intended, seem like a smart choice?

My current console runs everything i can dl from the marketplace. Conan is the only game that behaves in such an askew manner. It does not function as the developers intended. It barely functions.

Check out the dream team. The lag spiked and location changed. Couldnt have stopped them if i tried. I cannot interrupt. They can. There are 3 of them to interrupt me.

I understand but unfortunately that’s just the way it is . I doubt they will try fix any lag issues for older consoles

Funcom isn’t the only company that does this. For example, there are probably literally thousands of players who purchased FFXIV in 2013 for PS3 and in 2017 they could no longer do so. Support for PS4 has an unknown time, meaning it may not last forever.

When I purchased Everquest in 2000, it ran on a PC that had a Pentium 4 800Mhz CPU and an AGP GPU, with about 256MB of Ram. That computer cannot even hope to run the launcher and patcher for that game currently. Its harddrive also cannot even hold the entire game and the 26 or 27 expansions that hit since then.

The moment they added the North and Jungle to Exiled Lands is about when Conan Exiles exceeded the capability of the older consoles. This wasn’t necessarily a mistake on their part. They didn’t foresee a chip shortage followed by a pandemic.

I think the best course of action going forward is if the game is unplayable, then move on until a time when you have the ability to play it. I don’t really see a means of optimizing a game like this to run at playable rates on a nearly 10 year old piece of hardware that wasn’t cutting edge for the time of its release.

My opinion is it should never have been available for anything less than a PS5 or Xbox Series X, and they should consider dropping support for anything but those two consoles. The good news is, because of limitations of the engine CE runs in, those systems will likely be able to run CE for the duration of its development.

But they will keep selling it for older consoles…have been for 18 months now…

There are probably more last gen consoles than current gen consoles active. It dosent make sense to pull out on all those existing customers in favor of fewer customers. Over develop the game and lose your player base due to it.

Anyway, it has finally been accepted as a bug! Only took 18 months this time!

Nice!

I’m sure they have no intention of leaving the console it was released on to hang out to dry. It’s just more difficult to troubleshoot the problems after the port to consoles. In the past, they dedicated a special team to consoles (I think specifically xbox) and they may still have that team focused on it, not sure.

Lets hope that everything you just posted, rings true.

I didn’t say there wasn’t.

They overdeveloped with the idea that the majority would be on current gen hardware by now. But the chip market went haywire, followed by a pandemic, and now a full scale conventional war. Had those things not happened, a console upgrade wouldn’t have been $900CA, it may have been half that. You’d have likely upgraded, not just for CE, but many new shiny games.

There isn’t (many) new shiny games. A new console is an overpriced luxury. And so you’ve got a 10 year old thing that runs the game in a sad state. That’s not your fault. FC made a bad move pushing parity updates for CE to match PC development. I don’t know why they did it. Maybe they had to for internal reasons. In either case, it is what it is.

Zero. They’re still here. They never leave. Ever.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic but many have left after the bans.

Aswell as cost, availability is an issue also. I have 3 chain retailers in my lil town, i have seen 0 current gen consoles in person. The retailers have not even allocated shelf space for the newest console model.

It just isnt available. The price is moot. Might as well be $9000…

You’re not wrong unfortunately. 3.0 might, MIGHT have some optimizations to help. But I dunno, it sounds like a major content thing considering 2.0 was Siptah. I would say see how it handles there and if its hosed, then unfortunately I can’t say there’s anything to do but wait for the world to calm the hell down.
