I shouldn’t be, I think… I was told that I actually could have saved money on my build by going for the 800 version instead, but I figured some (in this case a lot of) headroom would be nice. xD
This is my first build.

ConanSandbox.log (10.1 KB)
Don’t think anything has changed, except for the install folder…
Rebooting now to turn off the XMP.
This is what it looks like. Tried to upload a video, but can’t.
It does not get into the main menu, though. It stalls on the loading screen toward the main menu.

You really cant have too much available power. The closer you run to the rail, the less headroom you have as it ages. Also you tax it less. It will only supply as much as needed so exceeding requirements only comes at the price difference (which is slight).
I have had problems like these before with the key difference being video card. Doesnt matter if someone has a 1660 or a 4090; this can happen due to overall system stability. While it can he game side, in my experience, its hardware and driver settings. I have a beast pc that I recently built and until I got it all happy working together, I had issues like this. Having nvidia, getting my xmp, cooling and disabling mpo eventually got rid of it all.
So considering it sounds like you built it yourself, how aboit fan configuration? Do you have cool air sucking in the bottom and/or front and hot exhausting thru the back/top? A read on your cpu temp might give a clue as to if heat is your problem.
It’s water cooled through the NZXT Kraken X53. It has 3 fans on the front, one in the back.
The housing is a MSI MPG Velox 100R, which is huge.
And this is the first game I can not get working.
It runs pretty much every game I play like a champ on the highest settings without problems.
Examples being Hogwarts Legacy, GTA V, Baldurs Gate, Cities Skylines 1 heavily modded, Star Wars Battlefront II, Alien Isolation, Resident Evil 2 Remastered… The Dark Pictures games, High on Life, Sea of Thieves, Civilization 6, Silica, DCS World, Dune Spice Wars, War Thunder and the list goes on.
The GPU is now idling at 36°c.
The housing also exhaust on the top.
did you install the water cooler yourself? If you can get a good read on the CPU temp during the fail, perhaps the thermal pad/paste isn’t seated well and you will see a big spike.
Another thing to try: disable everything else that uses hardware acceleration, discord included if you use it.
No I had help assembling the entire thing from my dad who develops software and has built his share of pc’s and laptops over the years.
It peaks at 69°c when starting, but when the intro cinematic is running it runs at 48°c.
are you trying to run in 4k? Have you tried running in 1080 as a test? I think you can set it in an ini file prior to launch.

This makes me think it’s a driver setting for your video card. the KS doesn’t have on cpu graphics, so perhaps windows is trying to address intel graphics where none exists.
How can I fix this? And if you have discord, I am GoldenFinch#0374 on there.
Perhaps that’s easier than spamming the forum. xD
And I was trying to figure out which Ini file I could find it in… But that is where my lack of knowledge comes into the picture. xD
It’s kind of important to keep addressing it here, so if someone else has the same problem, they can see how it was resolved.
So you have a KS, so the following will probably not yield results, but its worth checking to make sure:
right-click the Start button, select “Device Manager,” expand the “Display adapters” category, right-click on the integrated graphics, and choose “Disable device.”
To set your AMD gpu as default, I found this:
I’m digging for the ini file
check for GameUserSettings here:
C:\Users<username>\AppData\Local\ConanSandbox\Saved\Config\Windows
in there, right near the top, look for this:
ResolutionSizeX=1920
ResolutionSizeY=1080
Yeah I have looked in my Device manager already and I only have the RX 6700 XT as a Display option.
I’d confirm in the AMD Radeon drivers it is set as default
a little extra research seems to suggest that the MPO disable fix I showed above is actually a windows “feature”… so perhaps running that will fix the issue as well. nvidia simply gives us the courtesy of telling us how to quit it XD
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F89Xs_0ak38 I found this… didnt do a thing xD
And the GameUserSettings.ini is empty. xD
