PS4/PS5: Add Function To Customize Thrall Appearance

We are able to fully customize the physical appearance of our characters in Conan Exiles through the use of the “Orb of Nergal”.

  1. Please add an in-game function, altar or widget to change the appearance of thralls (including workstation thralls) on PlayStation.

Players on other platforms are able to use mods to change/customize their thralls appearance.

This would be great if console players had access to the same tools and widgets.

Thank you.

It would be nice to have this as a standard across all platforms. Once a upon a time, artisans had their own cultural outfits. Hanar of Bossonia in basic light, much like the lone fisherman now. Risa the Brutal in Reptile Leather. Marn the Breaker in Tier 2 Cimmerian garbs.

Now it’s all drab fiber with slight variations based on profession for the past couple years. Or gaudy hyperborean slaver for taskmasters. Though several of the new specialization taskmasters end up in dirty fiber cloth too. Only the nordheimer chieftain artisans retain their cultural attire.

I suppose sorcerers clad in more or less the same skelos robes across factions makes sense, but allowing a makeover for all artisans would do wonders for personal style.

does this really have to be in every single topic just because it contains the word thrall? this is already a bit disturbing and annoying… and it is also offtopic

back to topic: especially with the profession thralls i would appreciate a possibility to change the look. just the armor alone would be a big plus point. currently the profession thralls look somehow all the same

edit: hopeless case

The ability to drag a thrall to the orb of Nergal would be nice.

Likewise editing the garments of crafters (Siptah crafters sometimes are wearing their own clothes) would be nice.

This one can spin a yarn “justifying” why prisoners with jobs who are not combatants are kept in thread bare rags… but not this evening.

Much requested feature. Would be appreciated.

Even if thralls are nerfed to be decorational only… Actually… Especially if thralls are reduced to window dressing status, the ability to alter their appearance as easily as one’s own character is an understandable desire.

We should maybe create a thread for forum players to vote on.

Maybe that would do something if you tagged the community moderators in it.

It’s just an idea.

All information defining the appearance are stored in a large structure: CharacterLayout

The difference between player/placeable thrall and profession thrall is only the location.

Let’s stay with the orb example:
For placeable thralls, there could be a button that allows to switch between player and follower. This button then exchanges the current reference in the orb. Storage location of the appearance is identical within the objects player and placeable thrall. I could imagine that it is not that hard with this.

It is more difficult with the profession thralls. The orb has no inventory. There is no easy way to tell the orb which thrall item I want to modify. For already converted thralls, you would need at least one thrall slot in the orb (or some extra UI to select the item from the player’s inventory… sounds a bit too complicated and not intuitive to be honest).

Also difficult is the variant that you drag the unconscious thralls to the orb. Technically probably still relative simple, but from the game mechanics point of view not very catchy. Time could also be problematic here. An unconscious thrall does not remain unconscious forever.
another point: the current orb implementation is not capable to change your armors look. That’s one more point you have to add to the orb in case you want to modify a profession thrall.

I think the orb is suitable for redesigning a placeable thrall. With a profession thrall, I’m not 100% sure whether the orb makes sense because of the necessary changes. But if it’s not the orb for one variant, then it probably shouldn’t be the orb for the other variant either.

From a technical point of view: none.
It really is not relevant if the CharacterLayout is populated with default values during spawn or changed afterwards. It’s a bunch of numeric values. Whether the thrall displays lip shape 1 or 5 has no effect.

I doubt they will implement such a feature for only a part of the thralls and therefore I would say that the hindrance for the whole feature are the profession thralls.

I’m also not sure how well this half of the feature would be received by the community, especially since I personally have a greater need for the profession thralls. We can dress placeable thralls in armor that we like, in 3.0 then even a good-looking armor with useful stats. with profession thralls we don’t even have that option

Unfortunately this one does not have access to the PC at present… Nor the PS either.
Gonna be at a remote work site for the next week or two. If the topic is still bouncing and no one else has had an opportunity to get to it in the mean time, this one will try to dredge the details up.
