Even though I am excited, I wanted to give you all a heads-up about the Master Weapon Fitting – Increases melee damage and armor penetration, but severely cripples a weapon’s durability
Currently on TestLive and probably the way it will go to live, this fitting reduces the durability by flat 1200 points. Please make sure your weapon has enough durability to make use of the added bonus (+5 flat damage + 12% flat armor penetration). Some weapons will be down to 150 durability or so with the fitting applied and some will be straight up useless and break (daggers with 900 base durability, black dragon pike, dragonbone spear and other low durability weapons).
Make sure you test it on a cheap weapon that you won’t mind losing (or in Single Player) before deciding to apply it to your precious legendaries.
EDIT: I will update the actual numbers as soon as we have the live version.
Thank you Narelle. Pretty much not using those kits ever… not worth the bonuses when we have been beating the game over and over without them. In a PvP view, that’s a different issue, since a little plus can make a difference, but still not sure about that, we’ll have to see what experienced PvPers have to say about them. Oh, same with oils, not that they were necessary to begin with, in my view there’s other priorites from game core that could’ve been worked on (see thralls AI).
Thanks to Testlive’s feedback we got a fix in place for this problem. It just didn’t make it in time to coincide with the release of the big patch, but will come out in the next hotfix.
The feedback from testlive was, that a fix amount of -1200 durability is bad. So live has now -1500… So someone actually worked on that kit, but made it even worse.
Lets hope the real fix is better… Any plans for release date? 1week? 2weeks?
Any weapon below 1200 durability used to break on the fitting application. Now, based on the feedback, you cant apply these fittings at all when your weapon has insufficient durability. The only case of a broken weapon is currently for weapons with exact durability needed which will hopefully be also fixed.
The fitting durability loss was also adjusted from 1200 to 1500.
However, I don’t believe I saw any feedback on this particular point. It would be great if more people share their opinion on the testing stage allowing Funcom to get a feeling of the community reactions instead of lashing out at them afterwards.
Good example is the oil of penetration. People said weapons last too long, Funcom made them last shorter. People said 40% is too much, Funcom reduced it to 25%.
@jot29 So what exactly is “broken” in your opinion. What exactly you want to see changed and why. Help us understand your point of view.
