This change will kill both pvp and pve.
No matter what pro heavy armor and shield people may tell entire CE combat system is built around avoiding damage.
With your change we will have a “who hits fist win” combat system where people won’t have even one chance for a mistake.
Yes infinite rolling is a bad thing but it wasn’t a thing before whole stam update.
No one, not pvp nor pve people were asking for new stamina system. The previous system was working relatively well. The only real gripe pvp crowd had with that system was the movement speed increase perk in the agility tree. The only thing Funcom had to do is replace or remove that perk to get instant appreciation from pvp crowd.
Just bring back old stam system, remove/rework the speed increase perk and maybe nerf the rolling thrust perk. That’s it, minimum investment for maximum profit just like Funcom likes.
But no, they decided to create a problem and sell the solution.
That’s why every Bazaar and BP armor in chapter 1 had double stat bonuses…HP and Stamina…how convenient isn’t it?
hi! i have been testing chapter 1 and now 2 for a while now.
and i can safely say with all due respect that the stamina changes is one of the worst decision that i ever seen in a game.
All the good things that age of sorcery did like reworking the perks.
was completely invalidated to a simple 20/20/20 (str/agi/HP) meta.
if you are not using rolling thrust you are simply doing it wrong.
rolling cost less than actually attacking even light attacks.
Hello? you cannot even finish a full combo with default stamina.
but hey, i have free attacks after rolling so the best cost/effiency is rolling/heavy attack with 2h axe, and repeat endlensly.
and is not only that, after you ran out of stamina, you can roll again and attack again at 1 stamina.
Then why would i even care to spend points in grit or searching for stamina stats when i can spam roll attack until the end of time. not even speaking of trying to chase someone with the almost endless stamina.
So i have a few suggestions:
1)easiest way just revert it back to age of sorcery.
2)add again the stamina penalty after running out for a few seconds, so you are punished for spamming roll.
3)reduce the cost of light or heavy attacks so you can actually make a full combo without having the need to spend points in a current USELESS stat that is grit.
4)make a special weapon that either drains the stamina of the victim or that prevents the usage of a roll, as some sort of stun (my suggestions, mounted weapons, spears or katanas on foot OR stronger shields that stuns the attacker if the attack was made with rolling thrust because is an agile attack). my idea would be to add more variety in the choice of weapons so we don’t simply all play with 2h axe.
so each weapon should counter each other.
5) as @Bodin suggested, add a debuff that stacks on each roll, rolling as if you are sonic the hedgehog is NOT what pvp AND pve should be.
just my 2cents.
Also, i kinda like the god bubble removal, and the treb buff. is just that raiding is extremely easy and defending is near impossible currently. Too much damage potential. the defender should always have a big advantange over the attacker.
just imagine trying to defend your base, being attacked with simply explosive arrows, how can you defend yourself of that? you can try to chase the ranged attacker, but they can just run and run and run and you don’t really have a chance to get them. now imagine being outnumbured in that scenario, your base is as good as dead.
So i understand the need to prevent unradiable bases, but currently having a base anywhere is suicide.
Summoned an egg, but hadn’t played long enough for it to hatch till today. It hatched as a cobra hatchling. Didn’t take long to grow into a cobra in the pen. Started with 1 str and 0 in the rest of the stats. It did not gain experience.
Placed it on my Wheel of Friendship. Maybe it will intimidate future friends.
So from what I hear, the loot in the chests are much better and shield frames, sturdy strings, and weapon handles seem to be more abundant. THANK YOU! I have been annoyed for years now that I have access to some higher end gear recipes but have to wait till level 60 to craft them vs when I could when I mine star metal @ level 50. This is going to be a big bonus for those in the know.
Now can we get some hardened leather and layered silk and fur?
Hello.
I’m very disappointed that you haven’t gone back on the stamina changes. PvP has become drastically more arcadey and boring, it’s the worst change you’ve made to this great game Conan.
You should listen to what PvP players tell you, as they have valuable experience of the game’s meta.
Why would they bother in fairness, they make so much money from the roleplay kids that sit in pve castles all day reciting shakespeare to each other that they have no real incentive to give the pvp community what it needs. Sad fact of this game for a long time now is that Funcom just don’t give two shiits about what their game needs aslong as the pve players are happy to keep spending money in the bazaar and battlepass
Yeah best to appease those that don’t spend as much and actively grieve players to stop playing. That’s a sound business model if I ever heard of one.
So quit making content to pay the bills and fix my game mode for free
Indeed, there is no pleasing when it comes to the pvp community. It is much easier and much more profitable to focus on the RP and PVE communities. Unfortunately, they still haven’t abandoned PvP and continue trying to apply bandaids and “balance” the combat. Attempts we all suffer from.
Okay, so you know I’m as sick of PVP-inspired nerfs as any other PVE player. But I have to say this in defense of PVP community: almost none of the crap we saw in chapter 1 of AoW had anything to do with PVP community and their wishes.
Stamina rework? I don’t know any PVP player who didn’t condemn it. Unrepairable legendaries? Those were a byproduct of the “make legendaries legendary again” campaign, and that was largely a PVE movement.
Treasure coffers? There was literally a thread where PVE players asked for a way to show off their excess gold and silver.
Thrall balancing? I keep hearing from PVP players that thralls aren’t useful as base defense.
There have been many changes in this game that I can blame on PVP community’s insistence on disproportionate calls for nerfs, but Age of War is strictly Funcom’s fault. I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen them make a bunch of changes that were as reviled by both PVE and PVP players as the start of AoW.
At this point I don’t blame them for neglecting the pvp side of this game as much as they have because the proof is in the pudding that pve players pay the bills. My point is that they constantly try to hide this fact by pretending they still care for the pvp side by “reworking” some core gameplay changes like the stamina regeneration which we all know by now was a major step backwards not just in terms of pvp but in gameplay as a whole.
The larger snake could be one of the free BP steps (like every 6 levele i think). Then it is still technically free, as you unlock those rewards regardless of buying the BP.
At this point i would be just happy if they simply go back to the stamina system in AoS xD
i just don’t understand why they had to destroy the combat system like that unless they have something for chapter 3.
its amazing seing players rolling like a freaking wheel, hitting with 2h axe heavy attack and repeat, and since you can roll and attack with 1 stamina point, why do you even care to have more stamina since you have the same amount of rolls with 100 max stamina than 200/500 stamina because the roll is based in % and not in points.
i just don’t understand how they did not see it, and even after all the feedback they don’t seem to listen xD.
I think combat feels better then it’s ever felt IMO with the chapter 2 update.
I consider pvp completely broken and unplayable anyway primarily because of explosives and how you can have countless hours of work taken away in 15 minutes. Since they aren’t going to fix pvp, I’d rather they not let pvp hold them back from making changes to improve the game for the majority of players.
I said the same thing after watching the stream. You can literally spam the purges for the bombs and that is not ok.
Also servers are full with bases that are unreachable. If everybody starts building brigdes and pathways to their bases in order to get a purge people will start mass reporting because of landclaim. The new purge system is not Tos conform. It also produces additional buildingpieces and load on servers which could lead to massive amount of lag.
As I understood it everyone can summon a purge at any time. So imagine running a full server with people spamming purges. It could literally kill the server.
And that is the root cause. They still allow you to go negative even when they removed it’s penalty. If they put it in that you can’t go negative and therefore the stamina needs to regain to the cost of the roll/attack before you can do it, then it all works.
There is still a delay. Just get hit when you are recovering from negative stamina and you’ll see it. But regen is so fast now that our chances are much better than before. But negative stamina is a thing and if you don’t take it into account, you’ll get in trouble.
the delay is the same as the regen delay
- StaminaOnConsumeRegenPause = 0.1 (was 1.5)
- StaminaOnExhaustionRegenPause = 0.1 (was 2.75)
The delay for regen is the same, but it feels longer and there are two reasons for this if I’m not mistaken:
• You have to regen the stamina negative stamina value as well, so if -1 you won’t see the difference, but if you’re -150 you will need to regen those 150 then only you see positive stamina appearing (again, if I’m not mistaken)
• You do not regen stamina as long as you are in attack animation, and you cannot cancel attack animations in any way when exhausted. Get a Katana, do 2 light attacks, move and see your stamina regen. Do the same but without moving or dodging at the end, you will see the end-of-attack animation during which your stamina doesn’t regen.
I have the feeling you don’t fight much, do you, @erjoh ?
@SpherisCore answered above.
If you get into negative stamina in a bad spot at the wrong time, you’re toast.
