Purge and Gates: Lets figure this out

the purge is painfully janky.

I tried building a ‘maze’ with an entry gate and door filled corridors… unable to place base

removed gate… unable to place base

removed doors… unable to place base

removed half the walls… unable to place base

removed all the walls… purge spawned

placed stuffed animals and tables from reward… unable to place base

so, basically, the ONLY reliable build is a coffer in the open. but sadly, the purge even failed to path even that once and another time decided mid purge that it couldn’t be reached.

So janky.

this was in an empty server.

I have tested gate orientation and it didn’t seem to matter for me. The gate door is the only variable I’ve found.

We need to bug report the snot out of this, if we want things to change.

Ive been busy with christmas stuff, but I will test too in a day or two (I want to build a good-looking purge base)

So it’s not gates completely, or at least not Khitan gate :man_shrugging:.

This post is here to gather as much data as possible so we can hopefully narrow down the issue to report.

It could easily be something tangentially related to gates and not necessarily the presence of a gate itself. It’s just that removing the gate seems to either correct or bypass whatever is causing the problem.

Of course, this could also be an issue of multiple causes producing the same problem. Like if you’re car won’t start and you discover it’s because you’ve got a dead battery. But after you replace the battery, the car still won’t start because you’re also out of gas or something.

Conjecture:
Im starting to think that the purge camp location is somewhat random, ie. for a given playerbase, there are more than one purge camp locations.

And for some reason, the game doesn’t start testing the route until after it has chosen a location for the camp. In other words, it doesn’t cut out the inappropriate locations based on accessible routes. Or there is something in the algorithm that disturbs the process. I cant think of much anything else that could make purge both succeed and fail on the same, unchanged playerbase.

Unless there is a race condition of some sort at work.

ps. Perhaps Im overthinking this.

Don’t forget the time that has passed since you saw it first time. I often see fixings in game just after the daily restarts of the servers. Once @Pliskin wrote something like it, if understood correctly, that if the file of the fix is “small” , then it doesn’t have an announcement and it’s done on server restart. So maybe they constantly do fixings that we don’t get announcements but surely see in game.
They keep working on it, it’s obvious to me, the purges that i had the last 2 weeks had minimal issues, problems that are not so disappointing that they use to be in the performance part. Even to the official servers i play, weekends are a bit annoying, so i avoid purges on weekends.

Perhaps we all do, but it’s what it is. What i keep from these topics is the chance to speak with my fellow burned exiles :rofl:. Beautiful conversation, love you exiles :heart:
