When I logged off 2 days ago my purge meter was about 75% through the bar so I thought I was ok to log off. Nothing crafting while I was offline so was hoping it wouold be ok, I come back and I find the purge has occurred while I was away. I know it can occur after 75%, although to me I don’t find this logical because what is the point of the last 25% for?
Now I am back 1 day later and my bar has not reset back to the start, it is halfway to the middle of the bar. I am a solo player and I find this so unfair as it means I have very little breathing space to repair and get myself set up for the next purge.
I can’t understand this purge system. It seems to be broken and defies logic. Surely if I have just had a purge it should reset completely? And why does it move when I am not doing anything on some days and not move when I am building lots the next?
When the purge meter reaches the first bar, you are eligible for purges. When the purge meter is full, I believe you get a much stronger purge.
As for your second point, the same thing happened to me. My purge meter didn’t start empty, but halfway done. Not sure if it’s a bug or something else, since it’s the first purge i have ever gotten since launch.
It has a passive tick meter. I assume that you are playing on an official server? If not, the settings you put are what drive how often the purge happens (it’s certainly not broken in this regard). The Purge ticks for x amount of points every however often the purge settings are set. In that same window, it checks to see if you build something, or kill something, or both. If you have built something, it ticks up another 18 points (or kill, same deal), but only does so once every tick. If you build 80 things in 1 tick rate, you still only go up 18 points.
Source: It’s viewable in the data tables in the dev kit.
Further, you can be offline raided on an official server. Though (and I don’t play on servers so I apologize for the misinformation if I get this wrong) when the purge bar is full, you go into a pool as to who gets smacked. So you may not actually be targeted while offline. I’m not certain that’s how it works though. If it’s a private server, if it’s set to supposed to not have an offline purge, this is bugged as a purge will still happen if ANYBODY is in the server, rather then 0 of that particular clan (this is what I read anyways).
The part that I really don’t understand as a solo player though, is I don’t know if everybody on the server shares the same purge bar. All indications seems this to be the case. Personally I think it should be individual purge bars so that the biggest clans get smacked more often then the solo players (if that is indeed how it is). Larger clans still only get those same 18 points or whatever, but that’s per person. So a larger clan (10-20 people) are all getting those points much faster.
This is, imho, the main problem. I also feel that underlying systems aren’t described enough to be understood by players.
About purges, this is what I saw, I may be wrong or right. I don’t know but I saw that. I played on a rented server with a friend months ago having one large base with many foundations and purges happened quite frequently, purge bar starting at about 50% after purge.
I now play solo (in fact a local server started when you load the game and stopped when you leave). As I created or destroyed my settlements while I was travelling, the purge bar index seemed to follow “my impact on environment” (number of placed foundations, fences,…). So it might work like that. I don’t have enough will/courage to make tests butI’d also like to know how it works. Let’s hope Funcom will give us a nice description of how purge index works someday.
The current Purge is a little wonky. What id would change is that Since its random for the person to get chosen to get attacked. and the number of purge happen at once need to be changed as well.
Like In a 5 hr window , If no offline purge is selected then gather all the player now get each clan and then each clan/person has a percentage of likely hood of purge that starts at 10%. And the number of purge will goes by percentages (10%) of clan total. So for example if there is 40 clan on a server then you have 4 purge going at the same time.
Next, is the chosen purge everyone’s clan Everyone starts off of 10% chance of being chosen. every 5hr if you were not chosen by the purge then that number goes up by 10%. If you successfully defended your base from the Purge then this is now set at 0% for you meaning you cannot get chosen again for the next Purge event. And yes this percentage number can continue to rise pass 100% because again we want everyone to have a chance of receiving a purge. And let the person who just got Purged be able to recover and play the game a little bit.
If your purge percentage is greater then 100% then you get put on a mandatory Purge list now this become like instead of random chosen now it just use the top 4 clan with the highest percentage and once they are hit. those Clan percentage goes down to 0% meaning now you have a system in how Purge can use every clan.
And depending on the Clan Percentage score like 50% or less will choose a level 1 but greater then 50% will do 2 and greater then 100% does level 3 and 150% does level 4 and so on for every 50% increase.
This idea is this IF you were not hit by the purge… mean that you have more time building a better base then the guy who just got hit by a purge.
What do yall think of this new ruleset. And what do you think could be changed to make a healthy relationship-wise Between Purge and clan/player. Also this was just a mock up idea in how to get the purge to behave a little better. And to help official server out to have more purge and selecting those griefers lol
This kind confirms to me my suspicions that this is tired to the server. This is on an official server right? If my theory is sound, then once you enter the 2 bar area, then you enter a pool for a chance to be hit with the purge, but it might not hit your base. Or something. I don’t know, there is a lot of misinformation out there about the Purge (which is part of the problem). I’ve only had experience from playing solo (both on a server by myself, and in single player).
Perhaps. Maybe. But what annoys me is that there is hardly anyone else on the server doing anything. It is always empty or me and another person so how on earth can my bar rise so quickly? I am amazed that this system is in place and hasn’t been sorted. I am so close to leaving because of this. I have lost my community, I have friends that won’t play anymore and it is such a grind to do stuff alone. Makes me feel sad,
I don’t know. If this was on a single player or private server I could troubleshoot further, but I don’t know how official servers are set up what so ever. There is also just a lot of information that I’m not clear on, and as I said, is part of the problem. Is this intended, or is this a bug? If it is intended, how does it work exactly?
Maybe take a break then. Funcom has said that Purge improvements as a whole are high on the priority list and that they are actively working on it. All you can do is report your feedback, which you have, and wait. It’s not like Funcom is ignoring the problem and plugging their ears, they have responded several times in the mega thread as to the status and what’s going on, not to mention the several times that they have spoken about improving it since July. They are working on it, it’ll get fixed and improved, just a matter of when.
Hi, if your purge meter is 100% full, you have to have a 20 wave purge to take it back to 0, in other words, each wave subtracts a certain amount from the meter
After being purged for the first time since launch last week, I got purged again today! I was shocked as I had the game minimized but I managed to arrive in time before major loss happened.
This time they raided my main base but the archer thralls did nothing >_> Darfari attacked me which was exactly what I wanted from this spot and got a bunch of named thralls to spawn.
Got:
Fighters:
Aoda Maneater
Filetooth
Alchemist:
Alzit of the Foul Smell (Can make Black & White Dyes!!)
Another 2 or 3 named spawned too but I accidentally killed 2 of them while the 3rd got killed by a random player trying to “help” >_>… Killed a named Fighter and Taskmaster and the other thrall was too far away before I could see what it was.
Overall if this keeps on happening, I’ll be happy and scared as the marker didn’t show on map. I managed to see the popup message on screen that they where coming, else I would have had no idea. This time I got purged the moment my meter got full which was incredibly weird.
This whole thing with the purge happening outside of raid time (on official PvP servers) is really dumb. It’s not like they do any serious damage to a large base. It just keeps us from being able to enjoy the fun of fighting off the purge.
I have also been purged with zero activity on my part. I was actually purged, and knew I wasn’t going to be on for a couple days so I left it a bit of a mess and didn’t do a single thing. I went back on to clean the place up and I only have half a base left because I was purged again. I couldn’t believe it. We have noticed a steep influx of new clans, so I am inclined to believe the purge meter is a server accumulation like someone suggested above. I always thought it was clan based. Needless to say, I’m pretty upset that my base is so demolished, and before I can even fix it, I’m probably going to get purged again. I don’t want to bail on the game like all my friends, but it is frustrating. I wish funcom would lay out all of the details about the purge in length. (Pve official)
I’m inclined to agree, but it’s also possible that its a bug.
I also witnessed my purge bar rising when I was offline. Despite being in a clan, no one in the clan logs anymore (I know them irl) so I have no idea what could be the cause.
The purge has been designed from day 1 to work weather you are online or offline… it’s on only during a certain time of day/night,its supposed to be prime time for us gamers…supposed to be,I’m sure its different for alot of players…the thralls are supposed to protect us,but dont…I get hit when I’m offline too, alot lately…but most of my stuff is t3…I feel for you guys who are t1,but you NEED to upgrade before you build too big and trigger the purge…t1=purge=bad outcome…the purge is also RNG once you get past the first line on the bar (from what I heard) which puts you in a pool with other purge ready players,so once the purge activates on your server, depending on how many times it’s set for within a day(under server settings),it randomly chooses someone to hit…the less people ready the more likely your going to get hit…as for the bar moving when your offline…I cant explain that lol
