the problem with composite obsidian though is the amount of time it takes to craft it, one bar is 10 seconds, so for 500 bars it will take you about 1 hour 20 mins in the forge^^
it isn’t particulary cheap either, each composite obsidian takes 5 obsidian and 1 steel.
Obsidian picks will only make sense to use if you can repair them with master repair kits.
For axes of course there is no other option, but you do not need your axe nearly as often as your pick, so that’s ok.
Mh okay? Ah right, I guess I forgot those flame aoe after bombexplosion. Sorry.
Sure, but what kind of idiot builds an actual base with a 2x2 or even 1x1 foundation “thick” pillar with the base on top?
Makes no sense at all.
I am speaking of a double foundation wall or something like that. Or one of those bases on a natural Piller with anticlimb on a ring below with raiders having to blow those safety rings first. Those can be rebuilt in an instant. And that is where bombcost vs foundationcost hits critically…
No it cant since those two things are entirely differnt.
Orbstacking was stacking i.e. 10 tarorbs, light it with a fireorb and then keep the fire burning with only a single tarorb each time.
Combining orbs is still possible. Or should be.
Bombs do 10k damage and are instant. A single grease orb fire does 2.5k over 20 seconds, and they don’t stack anymore, and i think they increased the damage a little to compensate for removing orb stacking.
Jars do 5k damage to Vaults, because vaults take 50% damage…
You should really do thorough testing before you feel entitled to an opinion about things.
it takes 10 jars to break a t3 foundation, they have 100k health and jars do 10k damage to the things they’re placed adjacent to. You’re probably wasting jars by trying to set them all up and once. Do one at a time right next to the thing you’re trying to destroy, placing them in the fire left behind from the previous jar.
combining grease gas and fire orbs is still possible, but only 1 of each at a time, no more stacking 10.
They should have just increased the cost to 20 tar per orb, 10 with a t4 thrall, as well as making alchemical base a requirement for the demon fire orb. That would mean you’re spending 40 tar for 4 orbs to do 10k damage over time as opposed to 50 tar for the jar, which is instant, AND leaves a fire stack behind.
Stacking grease and gas orbs for explosions and burning is a vital part of raiding all tiers, and needed to stay in. They could have balanced it in other ways rather than just nixing it altogether.
It seems funcom always OVER corrects their balancing. I suspect their game systems designer is probably an alcoholic. The process for balancing should be like a bifurcating search algorithm, where you each step you take should be half the magnitude of the previous balancing correction, but they seem like they just over-steer by a factor of 10x. Like wildly veering left and right on a road.
I’m happy with it — never liked orbs being used as the main ‘raid’ tool anyway. We should be using trebs whenever possible, as they’re a lot more fun.
In my ideal balance scenario, we would always need to use siege engines for raids. Give me a battering ram, or let me break an enemy’s wall down with a war rhino.
Cute!
As if that would cover those 100 steelfire.
Nah.
They just need to correct bombdamage OR their cost to be on par with t3 foundations.
4 orbs (plus one fireorb) are enough for a single sandstone foundation? Then 4 bombs should be the same for t3 foundations. Then it wouldnt have been such a problem with vaulthp to begin with…
On top of that, delete offlineraiding and turn raiding times to 24/7 instead.
(= Owner needed to be online to raid him.)
I think that would be a good compromise. I mean sure, thralls are supposed to defend when people want to offlineraid one, but… They arent doing their jobs too well, are they?
First off, aoes stacking was too OP. Remember. Orbs are sandstone raiding.
So a single 2,5k damage over time is just fine, maybe tuning the burn time to half might help though.
Well… since voting for bomb damage being adjusted wont help with your voice: @FatsackWhy do you think that stacking orbs for raiding - and doing that with the owner being offline - has been preferred over bombs?
I think it’s due to the insane cost of bombs. I mean one needs them in hundreds for offlineraiding if not raiding an actual base.
And dont start this “they are easy to farm” yet again. (Directed at whomever.) Compared to orbs or foundations, their costs is insane.
Hrhr. Thinking about stacking aoes → What do you think what might have happened with those new arrows?
Eighter healing or tar ones. Instead of orbs, most people would bring those arrows instead, and raid using them.
By the way. I think bombs cover a distance of 4 or 5 foundations? Orbs can eighter be thrown just as far, or not even that far. But yes, there are a few places where orbs might be considered the only way left. A very few. (Actually, only a single one comes to my mind. A vertical cave.)
Depends. If there was something to hinder people from rebuilding instantly?
No, you cannot get demon-fire orbs as loot drops from NPCs. You used to be able to. However, these do not appear to be in the NPC loot tables since the end of Early Access and the game launch. Only grease orbs, gas orbs, and water orbs will drop as NPC loot.
Demon-fire orbs now require a alchemist thrall and glands to make, minimum.
