Two words. Untapped potential. Take 1% of 1.5 million. 15,000. Half of one percent? 7,500.
Half of one percent is a golden number. If you work in marketing, you know half of one percent is the Rate of Reply you can expect when you send out an unsolicited mailing.
In other words, we have a disinterested userbase.
Why?
The list of issues in Palm522's post is a common refrain.
This is cyclical. We saw it after The Frozen North Update/Expansion. The trick is going to be knowing when to reinvite our friends and co-workers to this otherwise glorious game.
I already mentioned this in several posts and I repeat, the biggest problem today is structure and servers. Most bugs can be ignored for now, ok they are annoying but my current problem was having to migrate 5 times to another server and lose members in the process.
Blizzard broke WoW with the 8.0 patch. Most people are actually just fishing and crafting at this point. At launch, the usual spiel happens. People speed to lvl 120 then notice why they quit WoW to begin with: Raiding with 10 other fickle elitists who hate each other. Melee DPS being stigmatized, in favor for ranged DPS. Hybrid classes being pigeonholed into Tanking and Healing. Hrm… Makes Conan’s independent progression seem like paradise, donnit?
Fallout76 is adamant about exposing ALL players to PvP, * and* making you visible on a minimap. That’s not Fallout… that’s Battle Royale, with the Minimap functioning as the shrinking death bubble, cuz there are more arschholes then good people out there.
Makes Conan’s clear and protective PvE system seem like a paradise, donnit? You can actually choose which type of play-style you want to be “exposed” to.
What do you think is going to happen with F76 with a beta that happens 1 month prior to release? You srsly think they are gonna adept the game with sweeping changes?
And dude… THIS IS BETHESDA, they are as notorious as Funcom when it comes to bugs. Conan Exiles was in early access for quite awhile and look at it’s state…
F76 is going to be tested for a single month… a bethesda game.
This is how PVP actually works. There is an end to it, and there is clear winners. In a game like Conan, you can win by successfully raiding a base. But that’s one instance. One battle in an ongoing War.
One base isn’t enough. The true winner of a server is to be the last one standing. To be the final person left on a server when it closes down. But one win isn’t enough.
Time to go to another server and another and another. The winner of Conan Exiles will be the clan that kills the game. That drops the last open MP server. That empties the official servers and forces Funcom to shut them down.
Games are created, and they die out. Its normal. This one is no different. You don’t play Super Mario Bros. 3 on an everyday basis. This isn’t a MMORPG, specifically EQ/WOW where there’s expansions for 20 years. The game will die and someone will be the last one standing.
