Quick Lore Question: The Ur-Draug

I have a quick lore question. I remember reading somewhere that the Ur-Draug was created in the image of one of the Dreamers, however I cannot for the life of me recall exactly where this is stated in-game. I’ve searched online, but can’t find anything directly pointing to an in-game source.

Hello! You are most likely thinking of the lines from the Draug - Leaders Bestiary Legend and Filth Guardians Bestiary Legend!

:legend: Draug - Leaders Entry 7

Welcome, sweetling. Be cautious. You are tapping into the thoughts of the Dreaming Ones themselves. We will try to protect your mind.

INITIATE THE MEMBRANOUS PROTOCOL…

Do you see? The draug of Kingsmouth are not the draug of legend. The Filth infected the minds of those poor Vikings. And through the Filth, the Dreaming Ones saw the folklore of the draug. The Dreaming Ones view dreams and reality as interchangeable. They delighted with this dark inspiration, and set about to make it a reality. The folklore became the prism of their alien thoughts. The Draug Lords are not, as the others, made from human material. They are the avatar’s of the Dreaming Ones’ sleepy will. They corrupt reality and mutate it. The draug of Kingsmouth are not the draug of legend, but they may as well be.

:legend: Filth Guardians Entry 6

See the Unutterable Lurker. Tremble at its cyclopean scope. This is the Sun-Eaters at their most lucid, the purest form of their avatars, guided by their titanic wills. Its vast maw is a prelude to their limitless hunger. It devours whatever it destroys, ravenous forever. It is the hunger dreams of the Sleepers, anticipating their feast upon waking.

The only time the Ur-Draug itself is mentioned directly in a Legend is in the Draug Island “The Polaris” Legend:

:legend: The Polaris Entry 5

The corpse of the ship still rests here. See what lies in its hull.

The seagulls have gone quiet. A crawling shape intrudes. It blots out all reason in inky black madness.

The Ur-Draug.

Not even seagulls dare to scream its name.

For some additional Ur-Draug nuggets, the British Museum of the Occult states the following on the Ur-Draug centerpiece exhibit:

The apex of the draug colony, commanding the Draug Lords and, through them, the lesser draug, zombies, and Deep One worshipers.

And this for the Deep Ones exhibit:

These piscine-batrachian bipeds live in the deep ocean and seem to worship the Ur-Draug and accept the lesser draug as its prophets.

As of note, while the Ur-Draug is the primordial Draug, there IS the “Eidolon of the Outer Dark” as a powerful entity similar to the Ur-Draug: the Eidolon of the Outer Dark is the raid boss from “N’gha-Pei the Corpse-Island”, which is a raid that has yet to be ported to Secret World Legends and is intended to eventually make its way over based on when Funcom last mentioned it on a stream. The mission reports for its associated mission “It Fell From the Outer Dark” suggest that the Eidolon is another Cthulhu analogue as well.

Dragon Message from “It Fell From the Outer Dark”:

The child brought a hand to his mouth and wriggled his fingers. Then the child allowed himself the luxury of a shudder and a tear. I hope you recognise the gravity of the moth wing-clap that preludes the typhoon that preludes darkness, stagnant wetness, and the rising of crawling things.

We are the chaos that preludes balance — the shock that vivifies a dying world with sores that are cities. The lancing cut. The relieving pain. The bad blood flows out.

This Eidolon of the Outer Dark represents chaos that preludes nihilistic oblivion — the plague breath that putrefies the universe into a vermiculated graveyard with planets that are mausoleums.

Templars Message from “It Fell From the Outer Dark”:

There are lines of thought, anfractuous pathways that lead to combinations of disassociated knowledge that can only end in madness. Yet you walked all the way through and came out the other side, like Dante. That deserves congratulations. We will need minds as resilient as yours.

This seraph of slime represents forces that infect with a paradigm that says the universe has no order and cares nothing for the pointless actions of humankind.

We must oppose this. We must prove order and purpose. If we are ever to look up into the heavens that make sense, we must defy the hungry, tentacular sky.

Illuminati Message from “It Fell From the Outer Dark” (censored for the forums):

Your report reads as mostly lucid. Good for you. In the 1920’s, a team of our operatives encountered a being that fits the profile you described. They all ripped out their own eyes and bit off their own tongues. Their reports were not as neat as yours.

Insanity is not a good demographic for the population we are trying to lead. It ##### with our business model. So we have to keep the world at large from putting together the puzzle pieces that equal the squiddy face of what you saw.

A psych eval and text analysis of your report shows that you’re on edge. Take some “me” time and detox your brain.
