Quick Split: Right Click/Right-Bumper will now instantly split half of the selected stack of items into a new separate stack
Repeated uses will split the original stack further into the new stack
Please remove this nonsense that nobody asked for and bring back the custom amount edit box
When Heaviest First sorting is applied this makes the split items go down the list out of view causing unnecessary scrolling
Shift to drag a specific amount is infinitely easier than this, why was it removed?

Agreed. I use shift-drag all the time.
“I need to build X. It takes 1 stone, 2 wood and 3 steel”
Goes to box containing resources
Shift-drag 1 stone, shift-drag 2 wood, shift-drag 3 steel
A problem I anticipate is if whatever you need is heavy. Let’s say in my example you have stacks of 1000 of each of those resources. In order to carry things you might need to split the resources several times to get down to manageable amounts.
Split 1000 stone to 500. Split 500 stone to 250. Split 250 stone to 125. Split 1000 wood to 500. Split 500 wood to 250. Split 250 wood to 125. Split 1000 steel to 500. Split 500 steel to 250. Split 250 steel to 125. Go build X. Afterwards, go back to your chest and put back 124 stone, 123 wood and 122 steel.

Guess you better off choosing one of the many mods that fix this already and be done with it.
Except you can’t on console or PC Official.

They are already planning on fixing it.
There are a ton of posts about this, so it’s hard to find the right one to reply to, but since this thread is so small I’ll just drop it here and people should be able to catch it in the dev tracker.
We knew people would be upset about the loss of functionality. In our next hotfix the ability to do fine splits will return. On a gamepad it will be accessible by holding RB/R1, and Mouse + Keyboard can do a fine split with Shift+Click.
The pipeline for updates makes them take a relatively long ti…
And that cant be stressed enough it seems.
Both players and devs might forget often that the core game must account for that simple fact.
