Title says it all, need to be able to link items in chat.
Do you mean you like how World of Warcraft does it? Just mapping the keystrokes are the easy part, low hanging fruit.
Most likely there is code that blocks the final transfer/link/review, so it is not random (). If the viewer or server is compiled with (a code library) on-board graphics, then we have a mutual understanding.
From there the items in chat can be linked. Because there is now an abundance. I would expect a more professional platform, like no less than a win32 platform and 6GB of ram.
I recycle my objects, and WE know how expensive it is to dig up space for more from scratch.
I am on a public official server, and you are talking way over my pay grade. I want the game to do it. I don’t know or even want to know any code or programming.
Yep, that is where the fun starts and stops. I’m just being lenient to what I heard.
The chat abilities in Conan are very rudimentary and easily manipulated with exploits.
I hear ya about this but before allowing unsafe website addresses to be shared they would need to make the chat much more robust in terms of security.
While it won’t address your suggestion, if length of links are the biggest problem then consider converting the website address via tinyurl or equivalent. Similarly, use social media or chat programs outside to connect and share. That’s really all you can do.
I’m not trying to share web links, I just wanted to show off my shiny new Dragonscale Helm.
Oh. You want to share the details of an item found within the game like WoW does?
I have played a lot of mmorpg games including wow,ESO,SWtOR,DDO,LotRO, all of them allowed you to link your gear, it isn’t just a WOW thing. But yes please let me link my gear.
All those games are role-playing games out of the box, so a few things here…
Conan Exiles is a survival sandbox game.
It also has limited unique items within vanilla. Uniques probably begin and end with the Variable effect; which exists mostly with delved Siptah recipes and that list is very small.
If you’re familiar with EL then it’s pretty much a given that you can get the Dragonscale Helm from the Red Mother. One of my favorite legendaries as it allows me to go anywhere on the map with a mostly PVP kit and find bases
You play slot machines with farming legendaries and to some degree in finding or making Variable effect items. That also has limits as it’s based on percentages in the effects it gives.
If it doesn’t already exist then this could possibly be modded. If you’re on PC you can look into it. Of course, you can’t use mods on consoles or Officials but those limitations exist for a reason.
I appreciate that you want some social functionality and the suggestion isn’t bad; maybe just a tad superfluous based on this game and the state that it is in.
Well as Dirty Harry says, a man’s got to know his limitations, and I guess Funcom knows theirs. Am I happy, no, running a video game is hard, I get it, but to me, being able to link my gear is not superfluous, it is expected. Definitely a game breaker for me. I hope they addressed this issue in Dune.
How long have you played CE?
I am genuinely curious how not being able to share details of items with other players is a deal breaker though o.O Certainly expected in MMORPGs but this is a far cry from one unless you get into heavily modded private servers, that might be where the experience you’re looking for is.
Don’t get me wrong here, I am not trying to be dismissive of your suggestion I just see where it might not fit and/or there could be issues with it. Plus being intimately aware like I am simply from gameplay where things drop it would be like telling me the sky is blue seeing a global message like that lol
I think the spirit of what @Kikigirl was trying to say is that, unlike MMORPGs, the stats on Conan gear are all the same (with one exception that she mentioned). So if you’ve seen one Dragonscale Helm, you’ve seen them all. RPG games typically use variable stats:
- Strength +10 - 20
- Fire Resistance +30 - 50
- Critical Strike Chance +5 - 10
So sharing your item is a way of bragging (in games with variable stats) that your Dragonscale Helm is better than mine. But that simply doesn’t apply to Conan.
Hopefully this helps. Happy hunting.
Yes! Thank you.
I have been playing about two months, so ya I am new. I don’t like mods and won’t use them. I am really enjoying my experience here, though the combat is a little twitchy, and having to use my keyboard to steer my mount is very aggravating, I understand why it is that way and accept it, just don’t ride my mounts often, I can run by everything on foot, and I am not in a hurry so don’t really need em. However the Rhino
is great for blocking mobs and does contribute to combat, he pushed a skelly archer quite a ways today in UC and kept its agro, so he is useful, tell he starts running around in circles, lol. I watch some of the God Mode streamers on private servers and seems boring to me, I like to have a community, and we have a good one here on this server, everyone helps everyone. It is a PVE server so that eliminates a lot of problems. PVP being not my thing. Any way thanks for your input and good hunting.
I’m like you in that I don’t like playing with mods. Mods are great and there’s an extremely passionate creative community behind them with an avid user base. I just prefer vanilla
I also don’t like riding mounts either as I’m always poking and prodding everywhere on the map; they limit me too much!
I played a PVE server for the first time in years this past summer and enjoyed the community there, it’s also something I like even on PVP servers.
Anyway, as much as some of us are blinded by our ways I think most are happy to see new players. There is A LOT in the game to discover. I still find new ways of doing stuff, new things, even now thousands of hours and years in, despite its problems and limitations.
It appears “link” here is pseudo semantic for transmog. Ya, I had a closer look today while the ground was not shaking. That event was like “over there”. A few times when I looked at the monitor, I could make out what looked like a dusty ghost, and eventually another player seeking shelter. (Nod. ZZZzzzz…)
Link in my connotation means "I push shift/right click while mousing over the item in my inventory, and the item’s name appears in chat, when other players click on the name in chat, a window pops up with a picture of the gear and its stats on their screen.
Not even sure what pseudo semantic means, but no has nothing to do with transmog, which,to my knowledge, means making one piece of gear look like different piece of gear. Purely a cosmetic thing.
Ya got it, nobody cares, lol
Although, we have a bunch of new players on this server and they haven’t seen one before, so was for their benefit that I wanted to link it, and to brag that I got 1
Okay, my bad. “Semantic” is an over glorified union piece in this context. I am now following my gut feeling… need more sleep.
