I’ve taken a break from Conan and been playing other games for a bit. Coming back I realize loot is boring. Legendaries can’t be repaired so I just give them to thralls except special occasions. Epics on down are generic. Most other games have several modifiers on gear so that you go out and explore looking for an awesome drop that completes your build. Why is there no equivalent in Conan? An update that had an enchantment system making all gear have sockets for gems like Diablo seems like it could be easy.
Right, you gave it to your follower.
I think you looking for “perfected” epics.
Is this now about adding gemstones to the game?
Part of the attraction of Conan is being different. Gemstones sounds like something out of WoW.
Just to be different from the rest, yes?
I’m saying a more complex gear system would incentivize the grind and exploration. Once I learn the recipe I can always make the item, which feels like most survival games. The devs put legendries in dungeons to encourage exploration, but making them unrepairable defeated the purpose. Games like the Assassins Creed RPG’s had complex modifiers on gear. It was randomized so you always went looking. In the Diablo series you were looking for a set of legendries that enhanced each other as a full set. I think there is a lot more that could be done to make gear more interesting.
They were a little too easy to pick up. The addition of keys took away some of the RNG in the dungeons.
Just imagined being able to merge weapons of sorts. Say for example, taking an Ancient Lemurian War Axe, and adding The Festering One’s poison attribute. Or adding The Annoying Shard’s gouge debuff to a Feroxic War Axe.
Sounds like an improved dismantling bench is needed to find parts.
Another type of dismantling bench, as there has been an improved dismantling bench introduced with the revamped journey steps.
Yes. This would deepen the complexity of builds. It would add replay-ability and incentivize the grind. +3 Bleed on this or +5 poison, etc. You could have new unique effects tied to gear. You wouldn’t need to change anything to the attribute system, just add new modifiers to weapons and possibly an enchantment bench to swap them out.
Moreover, after the latest update, the number of chests with loot in camps, as well as the number of treasures dropped from corpses, was sharply reduced.
If previously every third or fourth pirate had a gem, now, after clearing the Black Galleon, you will find, well, three gems.
Cimmerians do not drop any treasure at all.
It’s good that they left some good weapons in the chests, which helps at the beginning of the game.
I see some controversy here, with all do respect!
I try not to play in my regular session because i played only 30 to 40 days in it and i changed two camp locations already, with different builds and all these s…t.
My greatest problem was the moving of my legendary closets and chests.
Each kind of legendary, for armors light, medium, heavy and for weapons sorted by kind, sword, 2h sword, mace, etc… has at least one chests full and a second half or almost full.
So why in earths name we still ask for legendary repair?
I do understand that with the previous drop rates, legendary weapons not to be repaired was an issue. Now they drop like rain, a couple hours outside and you’ll return at least with 20 legendary items back.
What will i do, a single player with 800 legendaries in my house if i won’t use any and being able to repair the one i like to play.
The answer is simple here, go out without fear of loosing or breaking, they are easy as stones now, so play and destroy them all, who cares!
Their differences seem more visible on thralls, not on players, they are almost all decent and special and each has something unique to give, so your solution, again, is to use all of them and see the work they did with them. Forget “main weapon”, free your self from this taboo.
We do have “sockets” they are called named crafters!
Yet they are almost useless, except the armorers, all the other crafters are replaced from legendary weapons and tools.
If you ask me, i would love to see these crafters to forge one weapon, just one, equal to legendary. But each name something different. This would bring back the wild hunt on named blacksmiths and carpenters, because for now, they are almost useless.
Closing, i like the new loot, it made the game interesting for me again. It has it’s downhills but the old loot system was worst.
That’s my feedback, i am sorry we disagree!
Conan Exiles goes a bit over the top with boring, repetitive activities.
It’s very easy to recognize them. Just go to Single Player and see what you prefer to spawn from the control panel when the option is available.
When there are activities you just prefer to skip, this means they are boring. Online, you just do them because you have to. You do them not because you want to, but because there’s no other choice.
Sometimes I wonder if this game wasn’t created to provide soothing routines for the obsessive compulsive type of players…
So, I get what the OP is saying. Maybe he isn’t requesting the right thing, but I sympathize with the sentiment.
We need more exciting and rewarding activities that we do because we want, not because we have to.
The game would do well to keep going in this direction. It’s been improving.
Btw, repairing legendaries goes in the opposite direction. By breaking them, we will have reasons to play further. I was against this at the beginning. Now, it kind of suits me. I also get to try different weapons I wouldn’t generally use. It’s a win-win.
I disagree. Here is a few modifiers from AC Odyssey.
% All Damage
% Damage Animals
% Damage Specific Enemy Type
% Damage with Specific Weapon
% Adrenaline on Hit
% Crit Chance
% Crit Damage with low Health
% Elemental Resistance
% Total Armor
% Ranged Resistance
% Melee Resistance
Etc.
Conan doesn’t have something this complex.
This “game” may have what you are looking for. It puts on a cheap front end to a very complex “build”. Watch the vid, get an idea, let us know!
Are you sure?
Can you show me your building in this game?
Can you show me how many items you store in this game in chests?
How many thralls you have in this game doing different animations in your base?
Or simpler, send me a picture of your character climbing please!
Dude… I think you’re misunderstanding my point. The number of items you personally collected is irrelevant to whether the weapons/armor is a complex system. I’m not talking about the game as a whole, I’m talking about the gear.
For example, look at the wiki for weapons. Conan weapons have Damage, Damage Type (Based on Weapon Type), Armor Penetration, and an Effect (Based on Weapon Type). The damage type and effect are the same across all weapons of that type.
Now google weapon effects for any RPG and there will be hundreds if not thousands of variations. This is what makes loot boring. It’s all the same, not very complex, and not customizable.
Chests full of Legendaries, but are they the Legendaries that you want to use, or are they all the losing results of the slot machine?
This one’s idea for repairing legendaries is (and has long been) that the material to repair a legendary is extracted only by dismantling other legendaries.
When these other than desired legendaries can become the material that keeps the small number of legendaries you actually want functioning, they will be eaten thru much faster, sacrificed to keep the desired weapon in good shape.

Addressing the greater issue of boring loot…
That’s possibly somewhat intentional.
After all, the young and foolish raid their enemies for steel.
Those who are more experienced and savvy know the power of flesh, and raid their enemies for… well, their enemies.
That said, watching how different loot tables have been refined over the ages has been interesting.
If you want better stuff, play on Siptah.
Siptah is much more rewarding for the person who wants to slaughter across the overworld without diving into the dungeons.
The issue with repairable legendaries is the flawed argument most have. Think about it for a moment. Why do people want to break down legendaries to repair the ones they use? Well they want a use for the legendaries they don’t want to use. Why? Because they want a use for an item that literally has less use for them then a stone.
There’s the crux of the problem. The flawed argument is NOT the fault of the players, but the design around the weapons themselves.
The idea behind the system is sound. You find a legendary weapon, it gives a pretty good boost until it breaks and then you go back to using other mundane weapons until you find another and use that.
In practice you use a mundane weapon, find a legendary you don’t want and just keep using the mundane weapon because its better for you. There shouldn’t be any legendaries that are so low in desirability that players would rather stick with downgrades.
Now some players are just going to have preferences. And there might be some build limitations (agility vs strength, or melee vs ranged. But on the average whole. Finding a legendary should be a straight up upgrade that is just too good to pass up. And some are. But not all of them are.
The solution isn’t to make them repairable. That doesn’t fix the undesirable weapons. The solution is to make the undesirable weapons desirable. Simply increase their damage or improve their effects until they are no longer a discardable weapon.
I googled the Conan Exiles wiki for status effects. There are only 29 status effects that legendary weapons can have. That is not an expansive system. Legendries do a little bit more damage and have a slightly larger pool of of status effects. Legendries in other games have many more possible effects.
Part of the problem is that no amount of buffing will make an undesirable moveset a thing to be desired. You noted that yourself, but this one thinks you are undervaluing that aspect.
For example, this one discards almost all two handed hammers immediately. They aren’t worth the weight to carry them back to be dismantled, except the Ball Lodestone.
Others may not find the maul moveset so loathsome, but for this one, every two handed mace is trash.
When we add in the general derptitude of thralls, that cannot figure out how to use most weapons (even before the current situation), and the number of weapons worth keeping erodes further.
Players will develop a preferred weapon choice or two, something that feels better for how they fight. If a weapon is outside of that band, if using it is a chore rather than pleasure, if it isn’t fun for them, no amount of stats on the stick will change the fact that using it is a chore and ultimately not enjoyable.
The idea that most legendaries should be trash for any given player is, in many modern games, considered a feature rather than a bug because it “drives engagement” as players have to grind their way back to the slot machine to hope for the one or two items they want.
Yea, i love this, bring it on!
