It was made clear very early on that it wasn’t pay to win and that its value was only as an artifact.
Justhorse and others did videos before release that showed its damage or lack thereof in comparison to other weapons. Also if you can get your hands on some star metal early on it can be a bit of a boost for a short time.
Also it’s great that you’re good with others getting it cheaply, but not everyone shares your opinion.
If that’s the case, then it’ll stay a useless ornament then, that’s never going to sell. Especially now that it has full exposure. What a “priviledge” to own something like that.

Now instead of accepting someones disagreement you’re creating a strawman argument and taking the whole proposed DLC sales of two early access and physical sales only items to profoundly silly levels in order to make your own original idea seem like the only intelligent option.

For the record I despise the Bethesda Creation Club. What they have done with the editing the core files of Skyrim and Fallout 4 to break long existing mods so they can then sell similar ones IS truly despicable.

Yes the physical copies are shown to be available on amazon.de, which is the truly crappy part of the deal since they were never available directly in the US. That’s probably Deep Silvers doing.
VERY odd. Here’s one of the topics about this from a year ago. The whole thing made zero sense.
Also I sure they weren’t region locked since I ordered one of the copies off the German amazon.de site with my amazon.com ID and used the install key. you can also change the default language in the game settings.
edit: I guess this is why they passed out 500 keys to the big patch beta testers since I suspect the whole mess involved Deep Silvers distribution. They could sell the copies with the swords, but they could pass out some keys.
I received my purchased copy of the sword from Amazon France, with another license of the game, for the PC. I also received a sword right after launch for having turned in a bunch of exploits and refusing casha casha. Who knows how much that key was worth, @Halcyon ;). The low-end sword is very useful when you start over as much as I do. It’s also extremely handy to be able to scrounge basic mats and come back to the fight from being whipped, with mundane mid armor and metal sword that was crafted on the run.
and for all of us early access folks get nothing. Why would you want to do that.

You get what you got — Free armor/sword and a year’s exclusivity (which is quite nice) we will need to buy those
If they release them in their current state it’ll be like ‘yayyy… wait… we whined and moaned for a year for this??’
Here’s a thought. Just make them a rare drop in the game in the unnamed city.
The people who purchased can still make it. Even without flawless.
But they can also farm an epic more powerful version for endgame.
It’s just a skin. So why not make it special outside of the skin.
The people who purchased pre order will be able to wear it throughout the levels and the rest can farm the sword or armor.
Also good. Anything to make the Atlantean Sword matter again.
Just wait until they release Conan’s sweaty loincloth as a SuperDuper Special download for contest winners, people will go crazy in a way that will make Black Friday sale look like a slow day in the middle of nowhere

So if I buy all of the DLCs and support the game past the initial preorder sure I get what I bought which is capitalism.
I see no relevance in keeping something pre-order exclusive. Not when many of the pre order folk have left and gone to other pastures.
By making it unlock at level 60 with random Unnamed City drops it gives something desirable for ongoing players.
The preorder folks would be able to wear is almost exclusive until they could farm it themselves.
