I got a question, how’s the saga p2w gear any different from Battlefront 2 bought gear? Aside from the "one"time transaction every 10 lvls and the fact that you can’t obtain it in any other way?
Well in Battlefront you could only buy loot boxes as far as I can remember, had no idea for sure what you’d get from them. So you had to gamble and buy a lot of them. Here the starter gear box is not RNG, you get exactly what it says you’ll get, a full gear set.
The older boxes (the one that can give t4/5 gear and the one that can give pvp 10 gear and pvp xp consumables) are complete RNG similar to BF2 though.
The lvl 80 lottery crates are identical to battlefront boxes.
This low level gear was actually available in the old shop (and was best in slot for its level), the only difference is there were level caps on it so you couldn’t wear the lvl 20 gear at lvl 5, and no one gave a sh*t because lowbie minis were a) dead and b) it was level restricted so if you wanted to do 39s, the 37-39 dungeon gear beat the lvl 30 shop gear.
So I guess real pvp starts at lvl bracket 28-38, or will they actually make storebought OP gear for every level bracket (meaning that pvp will start at lvl 80 - kinda, since p2w farmers will probably quickly buy t3, while the rest is stuck on t1)? Also kind of strange how much criticism EA got for the same, sleazy practices
That week will be capped at lvl 40 so it’ll be the same story.
And well, the old item shop was reasonable because the major OP item (crit pots) you could acquire in game and the levelling gear was mostly just for convenience and wasn’t best in slot for low level mini games as it was 9 levels short.
They really didn’t get offensively greedy with it until 2016. The new 7% crit pots we can’t acquire by any means than buying them (for a stupidly inflated price of about 4x what the old ones were), PvE lottery boxes giving T4/T5 tokens, PvP ones with PvP 10 weapon equivalents, insane XP gain and mini/bori tokens. And now, they’ve set up Saga server to use the old levelling gear in such an outrageous way to where it’s best in slot.
And yeah, the new shop was flooded with complaints on the forum but that didn’t change anything (it’s pretty sad when EA appear to care more about their players than Funcom). Anyone actually defending it has pretty severe Stockholm Syndrome, there’s no other explanation.
You got some footage of a comparison of blue/green regular gear and the store bought set? If so, could you upload it to youtube?
No, here’s a comparison of necro/demo chest pieces, though.
Runeskriven Robe - Lvl 18 BOE (acquired in game)
93 armor
10 intelligence
60 health
48 mana
5 magic damage
Woeful Tunic - Lvl 20 from item shop
111 armor
8 constitution
80 mana
14 magic damage
3 hit rating
5 crit damage rating
It’s obviously not as good but that piece is competitive, you could do just fine with it. The problem is you can’t get a full set of that quality. As for weapons, well, the 2h from item shop has about 32dps on it and the best lvl 18 you’ll find is a 2hb with 28dps on it.
I’m pretty sure you could do just fine with dungeon gear at later levels but the problem is that you have to grind it out and by the time you do that, unless you’re really lucky, half the week will be gone.
Whats more is that not every class has blue pieces for their class. The medium pants have dex on them clearly for rangers. Alot of the gear has weird stats as well attempting to work for multiple classes but failing vs the store gear which is tailored for each class.
there are for every class, i had on my conq; there is str/combat rating version too
There is a starter set for every class. But until sanctum there isnt any WORLD BLUE gear for every class. like there isnt very much hox or healer specific blue gear until around level 39-40 (at least not in a FULL SET). which just makes the starter gear all the more essential.
