That’s significantly different than what is being implemented now.

I hope they continue it to include these things mentioned on the video but there seems to be a disconnect between the wish list that Joel is going through back then and the implementation of it.

Please keep in mind this isn’t a slam on Den because there could be very good reasons Joel’s vision couldn’t be put into practice and to Den’s credit, he has done wonders with this list that wasn’t done prior to his tenure.

yea i agree i hope we gonna see most of it not all of it but most of it

My worker slaves don’t get breaks, whats next age of thrall unions, lol.

We just have to take everything in steps - there will be more to come for your settlements, and more to come even from the list in this video but we can’t dump it all out at once. We’re doing logical chunks of additions to make things feel more alive and real, and Chapter 1 is just the first chunk

No proper way to implement a bad idea no one asked for, WILL be a bug ridden crash fest, and cause nothing but lag even when it works right.

Well, I’m hyped for this update. Apprehensive as usual for new bugs as is funcom’s habit, but hyped nonetheless. I’ve been using mods to make my bases more lively and if funcom can improve on that and make it easier, I’ll be happy.

I understand its more work but would you mind adding in some actual content here and there as well? You’re pretty much running out of systems to rework at this point… most of which the player base would be happier if you had left them alone anyway.

I really hope the “immersion” is worth the plethora of issues and bugs you guys are going to create implementing this (and of course… it will never be fixed).

first of all people have asked for this in years now

Hey .

Tencent can give you money for made somes collaboration în conan exile ? . I alway wanted the armor of wonder woman .

You can see the history of Conan and wonder woman in somes comic book .

so I thought it would be a suitable collaboration

Lamplighter sounds cool but what thrall type would do that? Dancers? I can see bearers since they literally serve no purpose when put on guard duty.
Chandeliers would need some animation as they lower and raise to light and extinguish…and what about the wall lighting out of reach? Sounds really complicated now that I dig into it.

Looking forward to this and seeing the work done. Thanks for the reply.

As long as my crafter thralls don’t wander off into the woods and get eaten by bears, I’ll hopefully enjoy the update.

No thanks. Don’t need other IP’s in Conan tyvm. That stuff is fine for the occasional crossover comic series or fighting game, but it breaks immersion.

I’m hoping this leads to bigger things (and also hoping FC gets the bughammer in full blast). I’ve said in the past that the settlement system was one of the draws that got me to the game during EA (the others being sorcery and avatar combat). Given what I now know about the game engine limitations and server stress I’m just worried about how much they can actually do without compromising game stability further.

While I recognize many of my peers’ concerns (which are quite valid), I too am excited. I like the new element of danger. What I’m not looking forward too are more floating people or bread lines forming at doors like they do at the tavern. But I seriously hope they begin taking steps to improve the ambience of bases, like musicians and additional emotes available to placed items.

Links.

I guarantee more people have asked for foundation limits.
Or drawbridge reskins.
Or any number of things we are not going to see.

There’s a mod for that

I can’t keep cats at my base in the jungle, the shoebills get them.

Not for me. PS5 player.

This one has mixed feelings overall.

Mostly trepidation about performance issues.
And some second hand fretting from all the people who are about to lose their favourite craft thralls in PvP.

But, this one will take off the comfortable jade glasses for a moment, hiss and recoil from bright light, and then don some rosier shades.

Back when all the followers at a fortress were slaves, most hunted down in their communities, beaten into unconscious while everyone around them was slaughtered, and then tortured into subservience, it made sense for them to stare out glassy eyed and not move much.
This one has several comrades from military days whose injuries (physical and otherwise) have left them in long bouts of similar non-responsive states. There is verisimilitude to the freshly broken chattel being listless and especially lacking any form of initiative.
But now, with the options for rescuing people rather than violently showing them the yoke, as a means of follower acquisition, it makes more sense that they would be more active and lively. Would have more agency and initiative.

While it’s more immersion than this one had asked for, and this one still is direly concerned about how this all will play out…
This one cannot just poo poo at it.
Especially without seeing it in action.

For a long time, this one has noted that, for the most part, we are all playing villains from Conan stories.
Raiding communities for plunder and slaves. How often do people basically reenact the opening scene to the movie at the Mounds, looking for Steel (good Cimmerian armour) and Slaves (the guaranteed Berzerker spawn and hoping for a Lianeele).
And yes, the movie isn’t Howardian canon Conan.
But even refining the standards to the books, how many people are looking to take off the bracelet, vs how many are Sorcerers, Priests of False Gods sacrificing countless victims for power, and slave drivers, or otherwise just petty despots.

Perhaps that’s some esoteric meaning to the Age of Heroes. More options for play that don’t revolve around casual atrocity. Not preventing people who still want the mean stuff, but offering options for those who, either thru lack of inclination or boredom with perpetual perfidity, crave something else. More opportunities to play something, that if not heroic, is at least not monstrous.

Technically you are describing a common method of obtaining workers in ancient / medieval times ( slaves / serfs )
For example, our first dukes / kings before they started to mine silver in Kutná Hora routinely made raids to the north and east for serfs and slaves

I’m not saying it’s a good thing from today’s perspective (and I certainly wouldn’t want to experience it myself), but it was normal back then and not something you’d be considered a villain for.

A classic mistake ( judging the past in terms of today’s morality ) that I wouldn’t expect from you (you sound to me like someone who has a fair amount of insight and a great deal of knowledge about history - both real and Conan’s )
