- It is missing both a short and long description.
- It burns for a shorter time than normal coal, so crafting with tar it is a downgrade. If the recipe was 1 coal + 1 tar = 2 charcoal, that would be more fair (though just increasing its burn time to at least match coal might be preferable).
- Since this “charcoal” is produced with coal and tar, this item is obviously actually a pressed charcoal briquette. Making these in a fluid press would make more logical sense - except for the existing issue of coal in a fluid press making tar. Well, tar is not derived from pressing coal, but rather heating it. So swap that recipe into the Alchemist’s Bench (or Firebowl Cauldron might be an even better choice).
- Why can’t other stations burn it? Sure, I can understand the charcoal kiln being specifically designed for one type of fuel, but these things should still be able to burn in any other furnace or campfire.
- Why does it reuse the coal icon? It is a brick. Reuse the hardened brick icon instead and desaturate it, that would look so much nicer:
Agreed. I also think it should be used to craft hardened steel instead of black ice.
It requirs a bit of progression to unlock and it doesn’t require you to travel to what is essentially and endgame portion of the exiled lands map to acquire it.
I start new games with every major update, and with natural progression in mind, it just makes more sense to me.
This one agrees on most points.
As a prolific grill user, this one is flabbergasted, nay, scandalized that we cook with raw coal rather than the briquettes.
Someone please get the nice folks in Norway a grill. Introduce them to the joys of BBQ.
Then, perhaps, they will address this particular, and peculiar, oversight.
(New premium skins for cooking fires when? Setting them up next to the stoves is necessary and it would be nice if there was a more advanced looking one to match higher tier builds)
That having been said, this one does love the idea of using this enhanced coal for making hardened steel rather than magical black ice.
They’ve got an office in NC, they know what real BBQ is.
This one said BBQ, not pickling a whole pig in vinegar and lemon.
Altho if that’s all they’ve had that calls itself BBQ, that would explain much…
Regional oddities aside, this one is more convinced than ever that the U.S. office only deals with Dune or other properties…
Just look at where we are expected to use charcoal.
Look at what it is used for in that specific structure.
No, this one refuse to ascribe to malice what is obviously an oversight due to having never been blessed with properly grilled meats.
They’ve obviously had Iced Tea made correctly, as demonstrated by it’s in game impact.
This one has the utmost faith that a sample of real BBQ (not a brined hog with the unrecognizable remnants of some unfortunate tomato smeared next to it) will get the meat and briquette recipes in good order.
Edit: This one is actually fond of NC BBQ, but the opportunity for a roast was too tempting to pass up
Now, if we could cook over some pecan wood, then we’d have BBQ.
Charcoal is made by thermocracking wood: (new) wood + heat ==> charcoal + creosote oil.
Thermocracked antracite (“coal”) is called cokes. Antracite + heat ==> cokes + coal tar.
Branches from dead orange trees give a great flavor. unfortunately Amazons new distribution center and new building project wiped that out @speedice
