So we made it to 2025. AI generated music has exploded on the scene though it seems to mostly consist of rock instrumentals played by scantily clad, if at all, CGI girls. I have to wonder what effect this will have on real, or perhaps meat is the better term, artists. No more waiting for your favorite band to release a new album. Just use AI to make one yourself. With a perfectly toned and modulated voice(s) no less. Will we forget how to sing… Or how to appreciate it done well.
I can’t imagine, no pun intended, that AI will ever match our imaginations, as showcased in the following video, or even have a genuine imagination itself. Do androids dream of electric sheep… I certainly hope not.
Oh hey. Been a while. Maybe one last silly stuff post but silly with an edge more or less. Language warning on most of them though YouTube does its part to protect our sensibilities.
Always preferred the original version of this but can’t find it with a good video so…
Vague recollection someone already linked this but since it totally fits here… No resemblance to any actual city intended.
Not sure what to say about this one.
This list wouldn’t be complete without Loser.
Or Flagpole Sitta.
One just for fun.
Talking Heads had some interesting stuff and may have written Funcom’s theme song…
Think I’ll throw a few more odd ones in. Southland Tales is possibly one of the most bizarre movies ever but had some good music. Plus I don’t recall The Killers being mentioned yet.
Oh man, I forgot this one in the previous post. Something for the British Steampunk Rap crowd.
Since I’m at it… I suppose Jerry Lee Lewis’s manic piano playing could be filed under "A bit silly"as well. Though I always preferred his “real life” songs like Middle Aged Crazy and Honky-tonk Feeling.
Yeah, I’m all over the place. Over half a century of music to choose from can do that to you.
This is something nobody has probably heard before, from a band they probably don’t know. I don’t know what made me think of it. Wouldn’t know how to begin to explain it. But I think the name says it all. Space Bears
I came across this vid the other evening, very impressive physicality from the drummers (guess they put a lot of skill points into dual wielding ) and with such a martial sound it feels suitably Conan-ish to me.
I’ve been mostly listening to political commentary songs lately but this one is as close as I’m going to get to touching that rail here. David’s passing isn’t a cause for celebration but his music certainly is.
All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies is an old Celtic song that has been a staple of American Folk for some time now. Lucy MacNeil recently released what may just be the best version of it I’ve ever heard.
Ronnie Browne has a great version as well with a proper Celtic accent.
Shades of the theme song from Hard Times, one of Bronson’s best movies if you haven’t seen it. Though I believe this is a custom arrangement of Dirty Old Town. Music starts about one minute in.
Next best thing to playing and winning is playing and losing.
