Some simple options would make this game much more family friendly

I mean that would be acceptable, if it wasnt a reply to a post that pretty much asked for it, which didnt get deleted, as i have seen on the forums its someone she likes the posts of

But its ok right to delete the ones who go against something someone else said

Especially when said moderator likes quite a few of thier posts, and several posts they jump on someone over nothing, but those are still there. Im seeing a bias here

Not really, and I like/hate everyone evenly.

It is best that this is taken to DM’s since we do not want to derail the thread more than it has been.

You can block that content via parental control so your point is moot. Know the lore before buying stuff. Those things are what makes Conan Conan. There’s plenty other games out there if you don’t like it.

That depends on whether you consider the forum’s social guidelines to be rules or not. There’s a link to them in the forum introduction post which is pinned on top of the forums. The guidelines mention politics explicitly:

Considering that the mods probably have these guidelines in mind when they moderate the forums, it’s pretty much what I would call a ā€œruleā€, but they’re not called rules, and I know there are some other people here who care about that more than they care about whether they should do something or not

I really try hard to avoid politics myself, but I have a bad habit of my own: I have an extremely hard time convincing myself to shut up and walk away :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s how I sometimes end up entering a political discussion despite saying that I’ll avoid it, or adding off-topic posts despite saying that we really should try to stay on topic. :expressionless:

EDIT: Removed a broken link.

There are already mods that remove gore and dismemberment, as others have pointed out.

I have since added some more features to the mod. It now prevents harvesting human flesh/body parts, so it does prevent cannibalism.

So no, I’m not pro-cannibalism.

It’s a real shame that the ā€œfree thralls from cagesā€ Siptah mechanic can’t be accessed in the devkit. If it could be, a mod could put cages in various NPC camps around the Exiled Lands, which would a great alternative to slavery.

Yes, my post got removed, in which I was merely asking Baen not to bring up politics  Oh well

Kinda shows what i was saying, but if forums get one sided it just shows its not really much of a forum, a place for discussions… these will likely be removed by tomorrow as though theyre the only posts off topic and or w.e rule gets enforced here

EDIT: i want really aware of any no politics policy, i was just backing up a fellow poster and replying to someone else

Not too bothered, In my opinion thou in this case the matter was already settled and there was no need for any sort of moderation. Both me and @CodeMage simultaneously pointed out that politics shouldn’t be brought up and @Baen was very receptive to that immediately and was happy to change the subject. So I see this as a bit ā€œoverly eagerā€ from a moderation standpoint, but again not bothered, it’s all good

The point that it got removed wasnt my issue, its the point that they got deleted without my notification, and also that only select posts of the sort got removed, and also not by people the moderator frequently likes to like posts of, just something i noticed, but annoying nonetheless, if i got banned from forums tomorrow i wouldnt care, most seem set in thier ways with the holier than thou attitude(even when wrong)… i joined the forums for discussions n such but at this point its like cliques in school trying to debate. And i dont mean this as insult, just an observation (quite a few people i respect here, others are frequently flipping position seemingly just to argue, and others think they know more than they know, its oddest forum ive ever been on)

I don’t get it… >_<

Causes Rules Suck. They set a standard that can not be reach by everyone.

Actually… from my 20+ years as a Forum Admin-Mod.
Rules cause just as much issue as people who break them, cause people like to call out rules.
There a Line, do not cross it. People do… not all get punished. Some people can not let that go.
They will spend rest of there days bringing it up.

Discernsion (spell check can’t figure out what word I’m trying to type…) of Moderator works well.

Guides Lines,
I think bigger issue in Moderation (specially when I taught people) You can not assume everyone is master at rules laid out before them. Or visit So Many Forums and Blogs… your never gonna remember them all. (I get busted for Swearing all time… cause several of Main Forums i go to, Allow it. )
People come from different sections of world. And how they should/can/want to Act, can be totally different.
Its up to Mods, to pull posts clearly meant to pull a conversation away. And leave those that are, just banter,
Its a Forum… meant for Discussion. People will talk how they talk. cough type.

But… A Mod/Admin can make a topic, About ā€œHorses in Conan Exilesā€ and State Clearly what thread is for. And that all non- Horse talk will be purge.
1st person mention Choco Cookies, has Zero Right to be mad there post was cleaned.

As for Post Poned Twitch Stream link thread…
Not sure of @CodeMage linked that as example… of something? It late… not all lights are on.

That post is on topic, but with banter. Actually… I even call it out, its not Age of Sorc questions outright.
Its really only one I had on hand. If they DO NOT answer or even bring it up. I WONT be hurt.

Being off-topic is ok… to me. Long as your not trying to start conversation inside another conversation.
c5100c97cf7411000750589c682ebc49

Again… thats me. Been doing this for way to long.

I type stuff out, and rarely hit (Reply) I delete almost 4-5 of my post on these Forums. Maybe 1 or 2 make it.
Not even off topic stuff, I can not get English to come out right, Grammar is off, Spell Check can’t figure out the words I’m spelling. I proof read it, and question what hell I was even going on about. XD

Click cancel and disregard and go on with my life. Only for hour later to recheck the thread and be
DOH!

I will point out, I wish we had this feature on Capcom Forums (closed and gone now). Seening it in action on other forums, and realize a person can post… and no one reads it but mods. And they never know.

Is such a great thing.

Thou… once you know feature is there. And then wounder if you have ever been silenced… or it was a slow Forum day.

You wanted the rule…

Always Be Civil

Nothing sabotages a healthy conversation like rudeness:

  • Be civil. Don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech. This includes usernames.
  • Keep it focused. Please don’t post about real-world politics, religion, and other topics prone to huge arguments.
  • Keep it clean. Don’t post anything obscene or sexually explicit.
  • Respect each other. Don’t harass or grief anyone, impersonate people, or expose their private information. This also includes usernames.
  • Respect our forum. Don’t post spam or otherwise vandalize the forum.

These are not concrete terms with precise definitions — avoid even the appearance of any of these things. If you’re unsure, ask yourself how you would feel if your post was featured on the front page of the New York Times.

This is a public forum, and search engines index these discussions. Keep the language, links, and images safe for family and friends.

It can be found here.

It is very rare that I get asked about them.

Eewwww that R word…respect

First of all, emotes that directly interact with pets/thralls/other players would be nice.
Pet the hyena, claps arms with one’s bodyguard. These aren’t childish, they are merely immersive. This one whole heartedly supports these for the base game.

So, revisiting this idea of a gore slider…
This could go both ways.
No Gore
Minimal Gore (only dismemberment on heavy finisher attacks)
Moderate Gore (as is)
More Gore (dismemberment on any kill, even DoTs and dehydration)
Maximum Carnage (lawsuit pending) (all bodies explode apart with the velocity of launched rhinos in previous patches and all appendages that can detach do detach, with a crimson tinting covering the screen for anyone nearby)

Another option, but probably not feasible, corpse permanence/instant fade. This one has fond memories of Golden Axe, especially that the bodies of fallen foes remain on the screen, even if browned out. Removing the decay on bodies would be a mess for server load, but definitely add a more gruesome touch. Conversely, having an extremely rapid decay timer would help prevent those unaccustomed to such things from happening upon such a scene. If one wanted a sanitized version, no humanoid corpses at all. Just immediate loot bag. This does make harvesting from corpses impossible, but if the purpose is to make it family friendly… Well, probably that is a good thing.

I didn’t. I linked to an off-topic post of my own. But that post got deleted by a moderator – along with several others – so now my link points to your post, because forum links aren’t permalinks.

Also, sorry it took me so long to clarify that, but I got silenced for 24h for the post I linked to :man_shrugging:

My kids are grown, but they grew up playing video games with me, all types. It was a bond that continues.

This demand to water down life to appease the deliberately offended is something I will never understand.

I found GTA to be a terrible game, my son still played it because he bought it with his own damn cash and now works for an educational non-profit, never once having boosted a car.

Pretty sure you were just too busy punching the trees in the neighbor’s yard to notice the new car in your driveway every week. :stuck_out_tongue:

@trollusk

In reality, you can’t protect your children from it either.
It’s all in advertisements, in the media, on the streets and on the internet.

We live in the 21st century, it is better to educate children than to hide everything from them.

Most kids who grow up too Sheltered end up being the first to turn to drugs, engage in violence, and try other not-good things.

Welcome to reality.
