If you base in the jungle, oil (alchemist III version) and dried wood from a dryer is significantly easier to get than coal. Go with the resources at plenty on hand vs requiring the transport from another area.

With spiders literally everywhere and nothing but trees all around, the oil production is real easy. To get started, a dryer is necessary so that you have ample dry wood.

I think the point they were making is that Oil is far more common than Coal once you have a T3+ alchemist. Which would be correct. If you don’t have one yet, then Coal is far better.

I don’t agree with dried wood being a great fuel source at first. In the time it takes to make a stack someone could make a new character, gather the pieces for the Keystone, and leave the Exiled Lands (aka ‘beating the game’). Even if you 10 dryers. I don’t have that kind of patience.

Dried wood isn’t bad later one once you’re established and aren’t running furnaces 24/7 and have the wood continually drying out, but even then, oil in a pinch is far more quicker. Again I don’t have patience.

I would say that if you are in an area abundant in coal, coal is a better bet just because of ease of gathering but if you aren’t…solutions are available.

I beeline to my jungle at the start. I use coal what I gathered on my way and once I get 19, I start drying wood. The dried wood does take a while but you get 2 for 1 in its creation and it does last a while in the furnace. During this time I am also looking for that Alchemist III. The dried wood is still used for T2 building when I find the alchemist and get the oil production going. When I get level 30, I move my operations up in the trees because I am that one guy that LOVES the treehouse foundation.

I wondering if buying it is either rng or a limited drop rate. I know of a few spawns.

If I could dislike a post, it would be this one.

I hope they’re adding red coal and coal golems, just because they can.

Yeah but if you are drying wood in order to use the resin for Harden Bricks then you may as well use the dry wood for fuel because it’s not going to be good for anything else at that point.

new pic released. Red is definitely the motiff. This looks like a fuel ore of some sort. The Automaton’s chest was the same design as the encased gem of the earlier tease and this one is just raw ore in the mouth of some sort of statue/mechanism so I’m guessing the red ore is fuel for a new source of arcane engineering (which is a shame since that would mean my skeletons aren’t coming back this age)

Am I off my rocker or does that look vaguely Lemurian to anyone else?

It definitely doesn’t look Acheronian.

looks to me the same motif as the ‘arcane’ objects from chapter 1. Not sure what they would be classified as specifically, but they’re not acheronian nor lemurian.

I would consider it a pseudo-Acheronian style. A lot of the new sorcery stuff since chapter 1 onwards has had this style - angular, blocky, and predominantly worn stone and gold.

The connections to Lemurian aesthetic I can understand why people would assume, but to me it does not look to be. In the scope of the lore, it doesn’t make much sense. The Lemurians were a nautical people and worshipped Dagon; their designs reflected this. None of what we’ve seen of this new stuff conveys any of that.

The writing in the book is absolutely Acheronian script, but I do not know what it says or if there even is a translation for it.

Yeah, I guess. That Acheronian Legate Primus set definitely fits the bill for it, so I would actually say it’s Acheronian.

I just don’t have enough patience to get resin in that way. To be honest I don’t use dryers much at all except to make the dried wood for the stack or so of insulated wood I ever need. When I need resin its from trees via a Starmetal/Eldarium pickaxe.

Well I guess red stone from minecraft is making its Conan debut!

Red ore definitely power source for new arcane mechanisms… dang can we get some powered stationary turrets too (like arcane obelisks) or mirror discs to burn enemys eyes =D.

it is a dragon. Fire breathing. We are getting dragon pets.

I’m with @EduMariano on this one. Heck I still use coal for (almost) everything. Burn time is not the only factor. Both dry wood and oil require processing and consume other resources in the process (depending how one procures it), which equates to more grind. With coal it is plentiful to gather, then straight from your inventory to the furnace and Bob’s your uncle.
