Sorcery: The Lost Promise

I agree, we need new content and sorcery, a potal to a new map would be good with

If something is added and it stuck to conans lore. We could.

Summon Shadows and some Demons

Return a person to life but a long cast time and a horrible price to pay.

Curses - attribute drops for example or adding corruption.

A DoT of damage from a curse.

Maybe make light sources?

Demonic transformation for a short duration. You didnt turn into a demon. You just became posessed which made you much much stronger.

Most of the sorcery perceived as sorcery in Conan was lotus posions and other elixrers. Orbs are definitely a thing.

Alchemy was the base sorcery of the game.

Even healing wasnt really magic per say. It was usually a concoction of some kind.

Thats part of issue thouā€¦

Lore base Sorcery sounds boring, time consuming and out right not fun as a game play mechanic.

Which is why I said, 2-3 equip-able sorc types, that vary in attacks on how you use left and right clicks (l2/r2) Its fits gameplay style and adds a new long/shot range attack type that we need badly.
the lore can sit and spin for all I care, I donā€™t wanna sit thru night as I try bring thrall back from deadā€¦ or fiddle in corner to bring some demon up pits of where-ever.

It looks interesting in movies, and books make it sound funā€¦ I doubt will be able to create a giant monster to fly us across map.

And more summon pets isnt really what I wantā€¦ we need new attack types. I havnt touch voodoo/witch doctor stuff that much. I dont see a pointā€¦ Iā€™ll ether solo, or take thrall/pet with me. (most of WD stuff didnt last long, or even fight decent)

I mean thatā€™s your opinion but there are a lot of cool things that could be done without flinging cheese fireballs which holds no place in this world.

I picture debuffs and other such chaos.

Hindering abilities perhaps. Or triggering statue effects.

If even be happy with being able to enchant a weapon.

Or create the drunk effect like a sorceress does to conan when she lured him to his near doom. Itā€™s more fitting

Maybe so (Iā€™d disagree), but this

sounds terrible and not at all fitting for the game.

Actually the magic in both books and movies generally tends to sound decidedly un-fun for all involved, and comes with a terrible price. The really clever/knowledgeable types are able to find ways of making others bear that cost, though. For a while, at least. Anyway, I do agree that some of the rituals and magics from established lore wouldnā€™t make much sense from a gameplay PoV (such as raise dead, I meanā€¦ I already have this great bracelet for that!).

The lore based stuff from the books (and to some extent, the movies) do have some sorcery, but like I mentioned before, it is very limited, narrow and practiced only by extremely esoteric rituals and demands an all or nothing commitment. I can see a place for a wizard, such as Conanā€™s friend in both movies, however it would be only a support character, never a main combatant. And as mentioned earlier, there would not be any cheesy fireballs and LARPS tennis ball lightening bolts, if it were to be immersive in the world or stick to any sort of lore. Remember, this isnā€™t Sword Coast or Baldurā€™s Gate, both games I enjoyed, btw.

iā€™d personally see sorcery as a mean to buff the existing combat capabilities of a characterā€¦ but at a costā€¦ iā€™d personally expect you to be able to buff weapon damage and or add effects to wielded weapons but as long as the buff is active the character would have their corruption bar fill. another side effect could be reduced defenses when attacking offensively or the likeā€¦ perhaps a speed decrease?

(on a side note Baldurā€™s gate III is in developmentā€¦ that should have all the DND magic one could wantā€¦ Conan doesnā€™t need any lol)
